'Unfinished Business': Here's a first look at Ohio State DT transfer Tywone Malone

One of Ohio State's newest defensive linemen is putting in some work ahead of his first fall with the Buckeyes.
Tywone Malone joined Ohio State as its seventh transfer portal addition ahead of the 2023 season. And ahead of his first game with the Buckeyes Sept. 2 against Indiana, Malone posted a video of him going through drills with a personal trainer with the caption "Unfinished Business."
In the video, Malone was wearing Ohio State-colored gloves and cleats.
Malone committed to Ohio State May 9, joining former Mississippi teammate Davison Igbinosun, who joined the Buckeyes as a cornerback in January.
Ohio State lists Malone, a Jamesburg, New Jersey, native, as a 6-foot-4, 315-pound defensive tackle. Malone has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
In two seasons at Ole Miss, Malone recorded 13 tackles, two sacks and two pass deflections.
When he committed to Ole Miss in the 2021 class, Malone held an Ohio State offer as the No. 11 defensive lineman and No. 63 player in the class per 247Sports' composite rankings. Malone did not have the Buckeyes as a finalist in 2021, but instead picked Ole Miss over Southern California, Rutgers, Tennessee, Florida State and Texas A&M.
Malone initially committed to the Rebels to play both football and baseball. He appeared in seven games for the Ole Miss baseball team, hitting two home runs with four RBIs in nine at-bats.
Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson confirmed that Malone would be "getting away from baseball" when he joined the Buckeyes.
Malone joins Igbinosun, former Syracuse safety Ja'Had Carter, former Oregon State quarterback Tristan Gebbia, former Louisiana Monroe offensive tackle Victor Cutler, former San Diego State offensive tackle Josh Simmons and former Notre Dame wide receiver-turned-cornerback Lorenzo Styles from the transfer portal ahead of the 2023 season.
