Post-Draft Outlook:
COULD SURPRISE: Linebacker Keenan Clayton -- The Eagles were intrigued by his speed (ran a 4.59 forty at the combine, the fastest time of any invited linebacker). They want 'backers who can cover in space and also can blitz. Clayton fits the bill.

A closer look at the Eagles' draft picks: Round 4/121 -- Keenan Clayton, LB, 6-1, 229, Oklahoma: The Eagles were looking for linebackers and defensive backs that can play in space, and Clayton fits the bill. He ran a 4.59 forty at the scouting combine, which was the second fastest time of any linebacker. Clayton will be a special-teamer initially. - by The Sports Xchange

 Overview

Clayton is coming off a 2009 season in which he earned Honorable Mention All-Bil 12 by finishing fourth on the Sooners with 75 tackles, 46 solo, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions and a pair of forced fumbles. A preseason member of the Lombardi Watch List, Clayton was a second-team all-conference pick as a junior by the San Antonio Express.

He came to Oklahoma as an accomplished safety out of Sulphur Springs High School in Texas. He lacked the speed to stay in the secondary, but has developed into a solid linebacker prospect at 6-1, 221 pounds.

A two-year starter, Clayton enters the NFL with significant experience, and might have earned a draftable grade with a strong showing at Oklahoma's March 12 pro day. He posted a 4.57 40-yard dash, 4.20-second 20-yard shuttle, 6.85-second three-cone drill and a 10-7 broad jump, according to NFL.com.

 Analysis

Positives: Athletic, quick player who is fluid in coverage and a secure tackler. Length allows him to strip the ball. Gets deep in his drops and stays with most tight ends and running backs. Should be a special teams force, if nothing else.

Negatives: Undersized for linebacker position, will struggle to stand up against linemen when facing the run. Some teams may consider him a better safety, and could make the switch to be an in-the-box run stopper at SS.
