 Overview

Lawrence was a two-time all-Texas selection in high school, making seven kicks from 40-plus yards as a senior before bringing his strong leg to the home state Longhorns. He was the team's kickoff specialist in 2006 (15 touchbacks in 42 attempts) and 2007 (16 in 92 attempts with the ball moved from the 35- to 30-yard line) before winning the placement job as a junior.

The Longhorns' potent offense didn't give Lawrence a lot of opportunities to kick field goals in 2008, but he made 10 of the 12 attempts including four of five from 40-plus yards (long of 46). In 2009, he earned honorable mention All-Big 12 by league coaches and third-team AP All-American honors after making 22 of 25 attempts with an impressive 10 of 11 from 40-49 yards (missed only 50-plus yard try of the season against UTEP).

Lawrence's clutch kick to beat Nebraska in the 2009 Big 12 title game also showed teams he has the mental strength to handle the pressure every kicker faces at the next level.

 Analysis

Right-footed kicker who comes into the ball aggressively with a fast-paced three-step approach. Good explosion through the ball, but still owns a compact leg swing. Typically gets straight, end-over-end kick with high trajectory. Made field goals from the left and right hash.

Handled pressure situations very well, showing excellent concentration and poise in hostile environments. Father played linebacker at SMU; some of that rubbed off on Hunter, who had eight tackles on returns (five in 2006).
