You won't find quarterback Josh Nesbitt anywhere among the ACC's passing efficiency leaders. In fact, he's not in the top 10.
But his improvement as a passer, his emergence as a true dual threat, has vaulted Georgia Tech to a No. 7 ranking and a berth in the ACC championship game.
In the Coastal Division clincher over Duke, Nesbitt threw what he called his best pass of the season: a 32-yard strike to freshman Stephen Hill for a touchdown. Nesbitt also hit Demaryius Thomas for a 75-yard score. He finished 6-of-10 for 195 yards and no interceptions.
This season, Nesbitt has passed for eight touchdowns while running for 16. He threw two touchdowns all of last year against five interceptions.
Nesbitt doesn't mind the perception that Tech is all about rushing.
"You never get tired of scoring and winning," he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, then added: "It was good for our team to show off my arm and put the defense on their heels a little bit."
With tall, talented receivers like Thomas and Hill, Nesbitt has never been more confident.
"I just put it up and give them a chance to go get it and I know they'll go get it," he told the newspaper.
