01/20/18 - (DE) - *Arden Key, Jr, 6-5, 265
NFL Early Entries: College Winners and Losers: Loser -- LSU: Six underclassmen declared for the draft, which is no way to catch Alabama in the SEC West. Edge rusher Arden Key and running back Derrius Guice have first-round quality and were expected to leave, but coach Ed Orgeron also has to deal with losing both starting cornerbacks and two offensive linemen. - Anthony Gimino, The Sports Xchange

01/10/18 - (RB) - *Derrius Guice, Jr, 5-11, 218
LSU leading rusher Derrius Guice says he's entering the 2018 NFL draft. In a recorded video published on social media, Guice thanks coaches and others who influenced him during his youth in Baton Rouge and during three seasons at LSU, and says he's ready to begin the "next chapter" in his life by turning pro. Guice rushed for 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns during the 2017 season, including a season-high 276 yards rushing in a victory at Mississippi. Guice also caught 18 passes for 124 yards and two scores. In 2016, Guice set an LSU single-game record with 285 yards rushing in a victory at Texas A&M, breaking the mark of 284 yards set earlier that season by Leonard Fournette. Guice leaves the Tigers having rushed for 3,074 yards and 29 touchdowns. Guice is among five LSU players to announce they're leaving school early to turn pro this year, including edge pass rusher Arden Key, offensive tackle Toby Weathersby, and defensive backs Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver. - AP College Football

01/04/18 - (DE) - *Arden Key, Jr, 6-5, 265
LSU junior Arden Key declared Thursday for the NFL Draft, where he figures to be one of the most intriguing prospects as an edge rusher. NFLDraftScout.com's Rob Rang projected Key as going 14th overall to the Green Bay Packers in a first-round mock draft earlier this week. NFL teams that once relished Key's sacking ability are now curious about his disappointing 2017. Among other things, he took a leave of absence in February for personal reasons, underwent shoulder surgery, then showed up out of shape. After beginning to show glimpses of his sophomore season, when he set an LSU single-season record with 12 sacks, Key missed the final two games of 2017 after undergoing surgery on his pinky finger. NFLDraftScout.com wrote: "When healthy and focused, his ability to wreak havoc off the edge as a speed rusher is unparalleled in this class. ... He is consistently able to cross the face of tackles -- whether lining up out of the two point (stand-up) or three-point (hand in the dirt) stance -- or rushing off the left or right side." Key made 33 tackles, including 5.5 for loss and four sacks, in eight games this season. High points were making 1.5 tackles for loss in games against Alabama and Auburn - The Sports Xchange

11/27/17 - (ILB) - Devin White, So, 6-0, 240
NOV 27 SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Devin White, LB, LSU...Tied LSU single-season record with eighth double-digit tackle game, leading the Tigers with 13 tackles in 45-21 win over Texas A&M. ...Ran his season total for tackles to an SEC leading 127, which ranks as the sixth-highest total in school history...Added a 1.5 tackles for loss (-8 yards) and intercepted a pass in the win as the Tigers held the Aggies to a season-low 55 rushing yards...LSU forced four turnovers and held A&M to 282 total yards and only 14 first downs...LSU's defense held an SEC opponent without a fourth quarter TD for the fourth straight game and the sixth time in eight games in 2017. - SEC Football

11/26/17 - (QB) - Danny Etling, rSr, 6-3, 216
The finest night of LSU senior quarterback Danny Etling's career may have been the final night of Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin's restive tenure with the Aggies. Etling ignited a 25-point, second-half rally and completed 19 of 30 passes for a career-high 347 yards and three touchdowns to power No. 18 LSU to a 45-21 victory over Texas A&M Saturday night at Tiger Stadium. In helping raise LSU's record to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the SEC -- the first time since 2012 that LSU has won six conference games -- Etling also dealt a severe blow to Sumlin, whose job reportedly is in jeopardy after a fourth consecutive five-loss season. The Aggies finished 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the SEC, and they have lost seven consecutive games to LSU. Sumlin went 11-2 in 2012, 9-4 in 2013 and then 8-5 in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Sumlin said after the game he was not sure if the next 24 hours -- or even the next "couple of minutes" -- would mark the end of his six seasons as A&M's head coach. "You work really, really hard and it's a results-oriented profession," Sumlin said. "It's just business as usual for me. I don't have anything scheduled -- a meeting -- (but) it probably could change here in the next couple of minutes or whatever." - The Sports Xchange

11/20/17 - (P) - Zach Von Rosenberg, Fr, 6-4, 250
NOV 20 SEC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Zach Von Rosenberg, P, LSU...The left-footer had best game of his career, punting five times for a career-best 49.2 average. Two of his booming punts resulted in fumbles by Tennessee - one resulting in an LSU field goal and a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and the other led to a TD and a 10-3 advantage in the second quarter. His fourth punt of the game carried 60 yards (career long) and pinned the Vols on their own 5-yard line. That punt flipped the field and after a three-and-out by the Vols, LSU scored four plays later for a 17-3 lead. For game, three of his five punts were downed inside the 20-yard line and two resulted in fumbles. - SEC Football

11/18/17 - (RB) - *Derrius Guice, Jr, 5-11, 218
Darrel Williams and Derrius Guice combined for 165 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and No. 20 LSU withstood a mid-game monsoon and handled reeling Tennessee 30-10 Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. Williams had a pair of touchdown runs while Guice and quarterback Danny Etling each had one touchdown run for the Tigers (8-3, 5-2 SEC). The Tigers have won five of six games since being stunned at home by Troy in early October. Tennessee (4-7, 0-7 SEC) hurt itself with multiple miscues on special teams and struggled to put together drives in Brady Hoke's first game as interim head coach. The Volunteers were held to 38 yards on the ground, and quarterback Jarrett Guarantano completed 13 of 23 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown.

The game was played in dismal conditions, with strong winds throughout and a heavy downpour causing havoc early in the third quarter. Several lights went out in the stadium at halftime, and at one point before a Tennessee snap, the wind blew the ball sideways, down the line of scrimmage. It didn't stop the Tigers. Guice finished with 97 yards on 24 carries, putting him over 1,000 yards for a second straight season. He scored on a 3-yard plunge early in the third quarter that put LSU in front 23-10. Williams tacked on his second touchdown run of the game later in the third quarter, and Tennessee never seriously threatened a comeback. The Vols have lost six of seven games, with their only win in that stretch coming against Southern Miss. Etling attempted just 15 passes, completing 11 for 81 yards. He did most of his damage on the ground, finishing with 42 yards rushing on nine carries, including a touchdown. - The Sports Xchange

11/13/17 - (ILB) - Devin White, So, 6-0, 240
NOV 13 SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Devin White, LB, LSU...Led LSU with 14 tackles, one shy of tying his career-high, in 33-10 win over Arkansas...Had a half-tackle for a loss and a QB hurry in the victory as the Tigers limited the Razorbacks to 318 total yards...Tied at 7-7 at halftime, LSU held the Razorbacks to only a field goal in the second half as the Tigers outscored the Hogs, 26-3, over the final two quarters...Had his sixth double-digit tackle game and ran his SEC leading tackles total to 103, an average of 10.3 a contest. - SEC Football

11/11/17 - (WR) - D.J. Chark, Sr, 6-3, 198
Senior quarterback Danny Etling threw touchdown passes of 45 and 68 yards to wide receiver D.J. Chark to power No. 24 LSU to a 33-10 victory over Arkansas Saturday at Tiger Stadium. Running back Derrius Guice added 147 yards rushing yards and three second-half scores for the Tigers. Guice, who recorded his fourth 100-yard game of the season, scored on runs of 6, 33 and 1 yards. Chark entered the game leading the SEC with a 23.5-yard average on 25 catches, but he had not scored this season. On both of his touchdown receptions, Chark beat the Arkansas secondary by 5 yards and scored with ease. Etling finished 11-of-16 passing for 217 yards. Chark caught four passes for 130 yards. LSU (7-3, 4-2 SEC) scored touchdowns on its first three possessions of the second half to break open a 7-7 game to take a 26-10 lead. On the first two of those scores, Connor Culp hooked the PAT wide left. Guice got the first two scores, cutting back for a 6-yard touchdown and then hitting a big hole on the left side for a 33-yard score.

Arkansas (4-6, 1-5) scored on its first series of the second half with Connor Limpert's 38-yard field goal. But Etling connected with Chark on the 68-yard bomb eight seconds into the fourth quarter to ice the game. LSU controlled most of the first half defensively, not allowing Arkansas to run a play beyond midfield, until the final two minutes of the second quarter. Trailing 7-0, Arkansas had gained just 46 yards on its first five series, each of which ended with a punt. The Razorbacks were backed up again on their 14-yard line 5:25 before halftime, but quarterback Austin Allen engineered a 10-play, 86-yard drive that culminated in a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Devwah Whaley 12 seconds before intermission. - The Sports Xchange

11/07/17 - (ILB) - Devin White, So, 6-0, 240
The sophomore has developed into the Tigers' best defensive player and top tackler (89). White wasn't a starter as a freshman, but played well enough to show big things could be in his future. LSU needed him to become the leader of the defense this year with Kendell Beckwith and Duke Riley off to the NFL and he has done just that. He has been credited with 37 more tackles than any other LSU player, including eight stops behind the line of scrimmage. What they are saying: "The last time I had a sophomore like that was Warren Sapp at Miami." LSU coach Ed Orgeron said of White. Outlook: Linebacker is usually a loaded position when it comes time to select an All-America team. White missed out on the AP's midseason team, but his strong play is getting noticed more every week and he has three SEC game left to make a lasting impression. - AP College Football
