He set career highs with 188 carries for 1,215 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 6.5 yards per carry, which is 20th best nationally. Wilson ranks 12th nationally in rushing scores and is in the top 20 in rushing yards per game at 110.5. He leads the team and ranks second in the conference in touchdown receptions with nine, good for 20th best in the nation. He hauled in 48 passes for a team-high 764 yards, averaging 15.9 yards per catch. He has 17 catches of 20 or more yards, which also leads the team. North Texas' most decorated kicker in school history has made the third-most consecutive PATs among active FBS kickers (151 straight), and hit two game-winning field goals. 2017 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): North Texas sophomore Mason Fine becomes the fourth quarterback to be named Offensive Player of the Year in the last five seasons. He has completed 294-of-457 passes for 3,749 yards with a league-best 28 touchdown passes (12th among all FBS signal-callers. Fine has established new single-season passing yardage and touchdown records for the Mean Green. He threw for more than 300 yards in five games and had six games with three or more touchdown passes, including a pair of four TD outings. Fine led North Texas to the West Division title and a bid to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, giving the Mean Green back-to-back bowl appearances for the first time since going to four straight bowls from 2001-04. - Conference USA Football

2017 CONFERENCE USA CO-NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): WR Jalen Guyton of North Texas made a big impact in his first season with the Mean Green, posting 48 catches for a team-high 764 yards and nine touchdowns, also a team-high. His yardage total and his receiving yards per game (63.7) each rank sixth in Conference USA, while his receiving TD total places second. Guyton topped the 100-yard mark in three games, including a career-high 182 yards with two scores in a win over UTSA in October. - Conference USA Football

Mason Fine threw for a career-high four touchdowns as North Texas rolled over UTEP 45-10 on Saturday to clinch the Conference USA West title and keep the Miners winless on the season. North Texas (7-3, 6-1) will play in the conference championship game on Dec. 2. Fine was 23-of-35 passing for 213 yards. He twice hit Jaelon Darden with scoring tosses in the first half for a 14-7 lead. He nailed Rico Bussey Jr. in stride for a 60-yard touchdown pass to go up 28-10 with 5:19 left in the third quarter. Jeffery Wilson, who had 144 yards rushing on 20 carries, had his 14th rushing touchdown of the season, tying his career high, set last year. Wilson also caught seven passes for 58 yards. Michael Lawrence hauled in five passes for 63 yards. UTEP's (0-10, 0-6) only touchdown came when Kahani Smith scooped up a Wilson fumble and returned it 45 yards. - AP College Football

OCT 16 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Texas sophomore QB Mason Fine led an impressive game-winning drive for North Texas, while also completing 20-of-34 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns, along with a rushing TD. With UTSA leading 26-22 with 1:07 remaining, Fine orchestrated a 98-yard touchdown drive in less than a minute, with no timeouts, to lead North Texas to a 29-26 win. The Mean Green were pinned deep inside their own five yard line, and Fine completed 5-of-6 passes on the drive, including a 49-yard strike to Michael Lawrence to put the ball on the UTSA 31. He connected with Rico Bussey, Jr. for a 22-yard touchdown to go ahead, 29-26 with just 10 seconds to play. The Mean Green are now 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 2004, heading into a matchup at Florida Atlantic, which is also unbeaten in league play. - Conference USA Football

OCT 2 CONFERENCE USA CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Texas sophomore WR Jalen Guyton had a career-day for the Mean Green last Saturday in their 43-28 win at Southern Miss. The Allen, Texas, native caught 14 passes for 211 yards, both season-highs for any Mean Green receiver in 2017, and career-highs for Guyton. He also caught a touchdown, his team-high fifth of the season. Through just five games, Guyton became the first Mean Green receiver to catch more than 10 passes in a single game, and the first to surpass the 200-yard mark in a game since Carlos Harris did so (15 catches for 216) against Southern Miss during the 2014 season. He caught five passes of 15 or more yards, including his game-long 53-yarder in the third quarter. Behind Guyton's performance, the Mean Green improved to 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2004. - C-USA Football

Sept 4 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week: North Texas senior RB Jeffery Wilson had a very strong debut to his 2017 season, carrying the ball 12 times for 176 yards and a career-high-tying three rushing touchdowns in North Texas' 59-14 win over Lamar. His average per carry of 14.7 yards was the fourth-best in a single game in school history for anyone with at least 10 carries. Wilson did all of his damage in the first half, as he sat out the second half with the game well in hand. He busted touchdown runs of 62, 10 and two yards, and now has 19 career rushing scores. Those 19 TDs now rank seventh all-time in school history, one behind Terrance Brown (1992-93). Wilson also ascended into the school's top 10 in rushing yards, climbing to ninth all-time (2,166 yards) with his big season-opening performance. - Conference USA Football

Mason Fine threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns and Jeffery Wilson ran for 176 yards and three scores as North Texas dominated Lamar 59-14 on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams. Wilson did all his damage in the first half. Nic Smith rushed for 101 yards and Evan Johnson had 98 yards rushing as the Mean Green piled up 436 yards on the ground while limiting Lamar to 86. North Texas established a school record for total yards in a game, 668, beating the 635 against Navy in 2007. The victory means the Mean Green is just one win short of 500 in the program's history. Trevor Moore made all eight point-after attempts to give him 107 in his career without a miss. Michael Lawrence caught three passes for 70 yards and a score. Additionally, Moore has made 8-for-12 field goals, including a career-long 51-yarder vs. Louisiana Tech on November 5. 2016 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): DB - Eric Jenkins, Jr., North Texas,...Jenkins (New Orleans) has been a huge boost defensively in the secondary for the Mean Green in 2016. The junior college transfer intercepted three passes, which tied for second-most on the team with McClain, and Jenkins brought two of those interceptions back for touchdowns. A Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week selection on October 24, Jenkins leads C-USA in passes defensed, at 1.3 per game (13 total). - North Texas Football

2016 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): DB - Nate Brooks, So., North Texas,...Brooks (Whitehouse, Texas) has had a tremendous sophomore campaign in a starting role at corner. He leads the team and ranks 27th in the country with four interceptions. He was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week in Week 12 after his performance in the win over Southern Miss. He is the teamís fourth-leading tackler with 52 stops (34 solo), the four picks, four pass break-ups, a sack and a pair of forced fumbles. North Texas only had four interceptions as a team in 2015, a feat that Brooks has equaled himself. - North Texas Football

2016 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): LB - Joshua Wheeler, Jr., North Texas,...Wheeler (Grand Prairie, Texas) excelled from his jack linebacker position in 2016, his first season in Denton. He ranked eighth in Conference USA in sacks with five-and-a-half, and has also added 34 tackles (20 solo) to go along with his six-and-a-half stops for loss and two forced fumbles through the regular season. He has been a terror applying pressure to opposing quarterbacks and is a vital component of the revamped defensive unit for the Mean Green that has held opponents to 8.0 points per game fewer than it did in 2015. - North Texas Football

2016 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): OL - Sam Rice, Sr., North Texas,...Rice (Coppell, Texas) has been a versatile staple for the Mean Green offensive line, starting all 12 regular season games and has spent time at both guard and center, after starting center Creighton Barr went down with an injury midway through the season. Rice and the North Texas offensive line helped pave the way for junior running back Jeffery Wilsonís career year, and the Mean Green rushed for over 1600 yards (1640) in the regular season and scored 23 rushing touchdowns after only seven a year ago. - North Texas Football
