He ranks eighth in the FBS in kickoff return average with 29.1 yards per return. Harper is tied for third with three kickoff return touchdowns, including two at North Texas, and a 100-yard return against North Carolina. He is just the fifth player in C-USA history to have three or more kickoffs returned for touchdowns in one season. Harper's 235 kickoff return yards at North Texas was the most by an FBS player in a single-game this season, while his 194 return yards against North Carolina was tied for the seventh-most. NOV 13 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Old Dominion senior RB Ray Lawry carried 19 times for 168 yards with two rushing touchdowns in Old Dominion's 37-30 win at FIU on Saturday night. He also caught three passes for 14 yards and another touchdown. Lawry had touchdown runs of one and 40 yards, and added a 65-yard run that set up an ODU field goal. He also caught an 11-yard touchdown pass. The 100-yard game was the 20th of Lawry's Monarch career and it was his second game with three or more scores this season and his sixth all-time. - Conference USA Football

OCT 30 C-USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Old Dominion junior KR Isaiah Harper returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in Old Dominion's 45-38 loss at North Texas. His first TD tied the score at 7-7 with a 97-yard return in the first quarter before the Monarchs offense even touched the ball. Then, in the second quarter, Harper returned a kickoff 98-yards for a score to make the score 28-17. Harper finished the game with an FBS season-high 235 kickoff return yards, and became the 24th player in FBS history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the same game (second in Conference USA this season). - C-USA Football


09/10/17 - (QB) - Jordan Hoy, So, 6-0, 195
Jordan Hoy scored his first career touchdown on a 7-yard sneak to secure Old Dominion's 17-7 win over Massachusetts on Saturday. Hoy's run, with 6:59 to play, capped a nine-play, 34-yard drive that was set up on the Monarch's previous possession. Old Dominion had marched 93 yards on 16 plays, eating up more than 7 minutes, before being stopped on downs at the UMass 2. The defense, which had eight sacks, then held the Minutemen to 2 yards in a three-and-out and Darrell Brown's 17-yard punt return provided the good field possession. Blake LaRussa hit Jonathan Duhart for a 2-yard touchdown that gave the Monarchs (2-0) at 10-0 lead at the half. On the second snap of the third quarter, Andy Isabella turned a short Andrew Ford pass into a 60-yard touchdown for the Minutemen (0-3). Isabella finished with five catches for 105 yards, surpassing 1,000 yards receiving and 1,500 all-purpose yards for his career. Marquis Young also went past 2,000 career rushing yards but UMass only had 79 yards on the ground. - AP College Football


09/03/17 - (WR) - Jonathan Duhart, Sr, 6-2, 220
Blake LaRussa threw for 161 yards and connected with Jonathan Duhart on a 55-yard touchdown throw to cement a 31-17 win for Old Dominion over Albany in the season opener for both teams Saturday. Old Dominion led the entire game but Albany got two quick touchdowns, including a 31-yard scoring run from Karl Mofor, to cut the gap to 24-17 midway through the fourth quarter. Two plays later, LaRussa threw the long strike from his own 45 to Duhart, who hauled it in around the 20 and eluded a trio of defenders before diving into the end zone. LaRussa finished 14 of 20 passing but had two interceptions. ODU also got a 41-yard touchdown run from Ray Lawry, along with rushing TDs from Brandon Simmons and Gemonta Jackson. Nick Rice had a 26-yard field goal. Will Brunson was 13 of 29 for 160 yards and an interception for Albany. - AP College Football

2017 Preseason Rimington Trophy Watchlist: Nick Clarke, Old Dominion,...Clarke started all 13 games at center for the Monarchs as a sophomore, helping ODU set a single-season school record for rushing yards in a season with 2,559, and lead Conference USA in rushing yards per game with 196.8. Clarke was also part of a group that allowed just 19 sacks, the second fewest in C-USA. A native of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Clarke has started 19 games at center for ODU and has made 22 starts in his career. - Old Dominion Football

Old Dominion University Football held its annual Pro Day at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Friday morning. Former Monarchs Zach Pascal, Rashaad Coward, TJ Ricks, David Washington, Anthony Wilson, Shadow Williams and Aaron Young worked out in front of approximately 20 teams. "In eight years of doing the pro day this is the most talented group overall we have had perform. We had seven seniors participate today and all were key contributors to our 10-3 season and bowl win," ODU Head Coach Bobby Wilder said. "As we tell our seniors, their resume for the NFL is their video from the past four years. Today was about the 22 scouts in attendance getting to work with them individually on specific drills that each team uses to evaluate prospects." Washington leads Old Dominion to 1st bowl win...Quarterback David Washington threw for three touchdowns Friday as Old Dominion won its first-ever bowl game, turning back Eastern Michigan 24-20 in the Bahamas Bowl at Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. Washington, who completed 11 of 20 passes for 188 yards and also tossed an interception, hit Jonathan Duhart with a 5-yard, back-shoulder scoring strike with 12:56 left in the game to snap a 17-17 tie. The Eagles (7-6) countered with Paul Fricano's 19-yard field goal at the 9:08 mark to pull within four points and had a chance to take the lead when they got the ball back at their 28 with 8:01 left, but had to punt it away when the drive stalled at the Monarchs' 48. Old Dominion (10-3) melted away the last 5:21, sealing the outcome when Ray Lawry picked up seven yards for a first down at the Eastern Michigan 30 in the final minute. Lawry rushed for 133 yards on 23 carries for the Monarchs, who are in just their eighth year of playing football after a 69-year hiatus from the sport. - The Sports Xchange

2016 ALL-CONFERENCE USA FIRST TEAM (COACHES): LB - TJ Ricks, Sr., Old Dominion,...Ricks led the Monarchs with 93 tackles and recorded five tackles for loss and a sack. He forced and recovered a pair of fumbles, both in the Southern Miss contest, and broke up four passes. He notched a season-high 14 tackles in the win over UTSA, and was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Southern Miss.
