12/16/17 - (QB) - Brandon Silvers, rSr, 6-2, 219
Senior quarterback Brandon Silvers threw four touchdowns and ran for another to lift Troy to a 50-30 victory over North Texas Saturday in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The Trojans (11-2) turned five turnovers into 29 points in lifting the Sun Belt co-champions to the win. The victory gave Troy its first 11-win season in school history. The Trojans won their final seven games and have won eight of nine against North Texas (9-5). Silvers threw touchdown passes of 7 and 10 yards to Damion Willis, 59 yards to Tevaris McCormick and 20 yards to John Johnson. Silvers finished his Troy career accounting for a school-record 87 touchdowns. Silvers finished 24 of 31 for 306 yards. The Trojans led just 22-20 at halftime but broke open the game by scoring three touchdowns on their first four series of the second half. The Troy defense intercepted North Texas quarterback Mason Fine twice and forced him into three fumbles, two of which the Trojans recovered.

Both offenses moved the ball at will in the first half, and Troy led 22-20 at halftime, allowing North Texas to get back into the game with a huge turnover. The Trojans were leading 22-7 and seemed to be heading for another score, playing a second-and-10 at the North Texas 22. But center Deontae Crumitie air-mailed the shotgun snap over Silvers' head, and linebacker Colton McDonald scooped up the ball at the 45 and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown, cutting the Troy lead to 22-13. Both quarterbacks played well in the first half. Silvers completed his first 11 passes and was 16 of 21 for 138 yards and one touchdown. Fine started slowly, allowed a sack-fumble early in the game, but he rallied to complete 13 of 23 passes for 146 yards and two scores, a 12-yard pass to Rico Bussey and a 7-yard toss to Damion Willis. - The Sports Xchange

12/16/17 - (RB) - Jordan Chunn, rSr, 5-11, 234
It looks like senior Troy running back Jordan Chunn's distinguished college career ended with his last regular season game, barring him of one last chance on Saturday to set the all-time record for rushing touchdowns by a Sun Belt Conference player. Chunn left the field with a knee injury during a Trojans triumph over Arkansas State on Dec. 2, which gave the Trojans a share of the Sun Belt title. Troy did not reveal Chunn's status for the New Orleans Bowl until kickoff, saying he's unlikely to play, barring an "emergency situation," because of his injury. That's unfortunate for Chunn and the Trojans. Chunn entered the game with 47 career rushing TDs, one short of the all-time Sun Belt Conference record of 48 set by Tyrell Fenroy of Louisiana-Lafayette in 2008. Early in the New Orleans Bowl, it looked like Chunn might have broken Fenroy's mark easily. On their first two series of the game, the Trojans scored on first-down runs from the 1- and 2-yard lines. The beneficiary of Chunn's injury was senior running back Josh Anderson, who scored easily both times. - AP College Football

12/06/17 - (CB) - Marcus Jones, Fr, 5-09, 170
2017 SUN BELT FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR (COACHES/MEDIA): Marcus Jones, Troy,...Jones has proved to be the definition of an all-purpose player for the Trojans starting as both a return specialist and as a cornerback. He led the Sun Belt with a 32.9-yard kick return average on 24 returns with three touchdowns, which ranked first in the league. He posted 115 yards on 14 punt returns this year for an 8.2 average. He also intercepted two passes this season, returning one for a 100-yard touchdown. Additionally, he finished fifth on the team in tackles with 44 to go along with his four pass breakups. - Sun Belt Football

12/03/17 - (QB) - Brandon Silvers, rSr, 6-2, 219
Brandon Silvers threw two touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 17 seconds left, and Troy beat Arkansas State 32-25 in a wild finish on Saturday night for a share of the Sun Belt Conference title. Without a timeout remaining, Silvers drove the Trojans 72 yards in nine plays. On fourth-and-5, Silvers capped the drive with a 14-yard pass to Deondre Douglas in the corner of the end zone. Justice Hansen moved Arkansas State to the Troy 38, but his Hail Mary pass attempt was batted away in the end zone. Troy (10-2, 7-1) has won six straight, and will share the conference title with Appalachian State. Arkansas State (7-4, 6-2) has lost two of its last four games. Silvers connected with Tray Eafford for a 44-yard touchdown late in the third quarter. Troy's Marcus Jones intercepted Hansen's pass in the end zone, ran 100 yards for a touchdown and the Trojans led 24-13 with 7:46 remaining. With less than three minutes to play, Hansen threw touchdown passes to Omar Bayless and Christian Booker, and the Red Wolves regained the lead, 25-24 with 1:23 left. Arkansas State had 606 yards of offense compared to Troy's 293, but the Red Wolves had three turnovers. - AP College Football

11/24/17 - (QB) - Brandon Silvers, rSr, 6-2, 219
Brandon Silvers threw for 380 yards and four touchdowns and Troy rolled to a 62-9 win over Texas State on Friday. Silvers completed 22 of 30 passes and is second in Troy history having accounted for 80 touchdowns and fifth in conference history with 10,133 passing yards. Jordan Chunn picked up 80 yards on 10 carries and set the school record with his 46th touchdown. All the damage was done in the first half when Troy led 41-0. Kaleb Barker, who replaced Silvers in the second half, completed all four of his passes for 107 yards and a 59-yard touchdown hookup with Richard Hallman, the first for both. Barker also had a short TD run. Troy (9-2, 6-1 Sun Belt) finished with 641 yards and limited Texas State (2-10, 1-7) to 300. The Trojans turned four Bobcats turnovers into 24 points. The Trojans started the day in a four-way tie for first. Appalachian State is at Georgia State on Saturday, both teams sitting at 5-1, as is Arkansas State, which plays at Louisiana Monroe. Troy is at Arkansas State next week. - AP College Football

11/13/17 - (CB) - Marcus Jones, Fr, 5-09, 170
NOV 13 SUN BELT SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marcus Jones, Troy (Fr., DB)...Marcus Jones set an NCAA record with two kickoff returns for a touchdown in Troy's victory at Coastal Carolina. Jones, a true freshman, became just the 24th player in FBS history to ever return two kickoffs for a touchdown in a single game and he did so on the first two kickoffs of the game for the Trojans. He averaged 64.7 yards on his three kickoff returns in the game, which ranks as the second most in Sun Belt history (min. three attempts). Jones is the first player in Troy history and the fourth in Sun Belt history to return two kickoffs for a touchdown in a game. - Sun Belt Football

11/11/17 - (RB) - Jordan Chunn, rSr, 5-11, 234
Marcus Jones scored twice on kickoff returns, Jordan Chunn set a school record with his 46th touchdown and Troy defeated Coastal Carolina 42-17 on Saturday night. Jones opened the game with a 91-yard return and made the score 14-7 later in the first quarter with an 87-yarder, tying an FBS record held by many. Chunn ran in from 8 yards out to give the Trojans a 28-10 halftime lead. Chunn passed Danny Grant, who played for Troy in the 1960s when it was an NAIA school, for most touchdowns scored, all of Chunn's coming on the ground. Blace Brown made two interceptions, his third career two-pick game for Troy (5-1, 8-2 Sun Belt), which has won four straight. The Chanticleers (0-6, 1-10) have lost eight straight. Troy's Brandon Silvers threw for 206 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Coastal Carolina's Kilton Anderson had 157 yards passing with two scores and two interceptions. - AP College Football
