 Draft Scout Carson Wentz News
06/05/17 - QB Carson Wentz traveled to California in March to spend a few weeks working with a passing coach, Adam Dedeaux. There have been reports that the Eagles' coaches weren't crazy about someone else tinkering with his mechanics and footwork. But offensive coordinator Frank Reich said Monday they were fine with it. "I didn't have any issues with it at all, to be honest with you," he said. "I would have loved to have given him a few weeks off and then, 'C'mon back here and let's go in the lab and let's work.' But the (offseason) rules don't allow that. That's fine. It's a different era than when I played and when Doug (Pederson) played. You can't do that anymore. Carson is like a lot of our players. They have an itch to get better. If I'm a player, I'm going to find ways to get better."
01/02/17 - QB Carson Wentz threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Ertz with 4:56 left in the third quarter. Wentz also set an NFL rookie record when he completed a pass in the Eagles' opening drive, which passed the record of 354 completions set by St. Louis' Sam Bradford in 2010. Wentz finished the game completing 27 of 43 passes for 245 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and a passer rating of 93.7. Ertz caught a game-high 13 passes for 139 yards and two TDs.
12/23/16 - QB Carson Wentz left Thursday's 24-19 victory over the New York Giants briefly in the third quarter. Wentz was dropped by Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon after he threw an incomplete pass and hit the ground hard. Vernon was flagged for unnecessary roughness, but Wentz was forced to leave the game with what was diagnosed as a head injury. He was replaced by Chase Daniel for one series before returning. Those were the only snaps Wentz has missed all season. "I felt a little dizzy. I got my bell rung a little bit," Wentz said. "But I felt pretty good by the time I got to the bench and I passed the (concussion) protocol and I felt good. There was no question in mind I was going back in." Wentz completed 13 of 24 passes for 152 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
12/18/16 - QB Carson Wentz is 32 passes away from breaking Donovan McNabb's franchise record for attempts in a season. Eagles coach Doug Pederson is going to give him every chance to break that record. After a strong start, Wentz has thrown six interceptions in the past four games. He was 22 of 42 for 170 yards with an interception against Baltimore. However, Wentz has remained confident and came within a play of leading his team to a spirited victory. After Wentz scored on a 4-yard run, his pass for an attempted two-point conversion was broken up by Baltimore's C.J. Mosley and Jerraud Powers and Philadelphia fell short in the 27-26 loss.
12/12/16 - QB Carson Wentz completed 32 of 46 passes for 314 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, giving him a passer rating of 86.7.
