Draft Scout Hayden Hunt News
11/30/16 - 2016 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): P Hayden Hunt, Sr., Colorado State...Hunt followed up his All-America junior campaign by becoming a Ray Guy Award semifinalist for the second consecutive season. He ranks 18th nationally with a 44.3 net punting average, with 24 punts (48.0 percent) being marked down inside opponents’ 20-yard line, 15 going at least 50 yards (30.0 percent) and just three being touchbacks (6.0 percent). He was twice named the Ray Guy Award national punter of the week, including once after he successfully converted back-to-back on-side kicks at then-No. 15 Boise State (10/15), part of a 20-0 Rams’ run in a span of 1:25. He is also 2-for-2 on fake punts and has been the Rams’ primary holder for all field goals and extra-point attempts. - Colorado State Football

11/25/15 - 2015 RAY GUY AWARD FINALIST: Hayden Hunt, Colorado State...Led by Hunt, CSU ranks second nationally for net punting average (43.4), and among the 10 semifinalists, Hunt's percentage inside the 20 (48.8) is first. Additionally, he has just one touchback and has produced 15 fair catches (34.8 percent), plus 12 punts of at least 50 yards. "He's probably the best punter that I've ever seen," head coach Mike Bobo said. "The impact that he has to flip the field has been a huge weapon, and he's so unselfish. He's not worried about his average. He's not trying to boom every one out. I've been around some guys at times that say they're trying to place it in there and it goes in the end zone; they're worried about that average. Hayden's trying to help the team and he's doing his part. He already has, and will continue to help us win games because of his punting." CSU's net punting average of 43.4 ranks second in all of college football, while Hunt's gross punting average of 46.3 ranks fifth. As Bobo noted, however, Hunt is more than just a big leg. - Colorado State Football
