 Draft Scout Matt Linehan News
11/07/17 - The son of longtime NFL coach Scott Linehan, Idaho fifth-year senior QB Matt Linehan (6-2, 230, 4.93, #10) suffered an injury to his throwing hand on Saturday and is expected to miss playing time. A possible day three draft pick, Linehan will hopefully be healthy for the pre-draft process as he will almost assuredly receive an invitation to the Shrine Game or NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
10/30/17 - OCT 30 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Matt Linehan, Idaho (Sr., QB)...Guided Idaho's breakout offensive performance, completing 28-of-42 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns, as the Vandals defeated ULM 31-23...posted season highs in completions, attempts and yards, and matched season best for touchdowns...360 passing yards are the fourth most in a game in Linehan's career and mark his 13th game with at least 300 yards through the air...connected with eight different receivers...moved up to No. 3 in Sun Belt history for career passing yards (10,490). - Sun Belt Football
09/24/17 - Isaiah Saunders' 2-yard touchdown run finally gave Idaho a much-delayed 29-23 double-overtime victory over South Alabama on Saturday night in a game that saw two weather delays. The game lasted almost seven hours with the first weather delay lasting over two hours (2:27) in this Sun Belt Conference opener. Idaho's Matt Linehan threw for 273 yards with Alfonso Onunwor grabbing eight catches for 119 yards and a score. Onunwor pulled in a pass from over his right shoulder in the left corner of the end zone as the Vandals charged back to tie the game 20-20 with only 13 seconds remaining. The teams traded field goals in the first extra period. South Alabama's (1-3, 0-1) Gavin Patterson missed a 43-yard field goal to start the second overtime, leaving the door open for Saunders. The Vandals (2-2, 1-0) were 61 yards from the end zone with 90 seconds remaining when Linehan went to work, driving Idaho for the tying score in regulation. - AP College Football
09/01/17 - Aaron Duckworth rolled up 191 all-purpose yards and Matt Linehan threw for two touchdowns as Idaho opened the season with a 28-6 victory over Sacramento State on Thursday night. Duckworth finished with 142 yards rushing and 49 receiving while Linehan was 14 of 19 for 163 yards, but also threw two interceptions. Idaho had only 24 yards offense in the first quarter but finished with 356 in running its win streak to six, its longest since 1994. The Vandals scored twice for a 14-6 halftime lead, though it turned the ball over three times and its rebuilt offensive line gave up all four Hornets sacks during the half. Linehan threw 8 yards to Jacob Sannon for the Vandals' first touchdown, finishing a drive that included a 49-yard pass play to Duckworth. On Idaho's next drive, Linehan threw a 35-yard score to Reuben Mwehla. - AP College Football

He is in the top five in five Idaho career passing categories - with one game and a full season yet to play. His 476 passing yards against New Mexico State in October are fifth most in school history. - Idaho Football
