 Draft Scout *Tremaine Edmunds News
12/01/17 - 2017 ALL-ACC FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): LB Tremaine Edmunds, Jr., Virginia Tech, 135 Votes,...One of five finalists for the Butkus Award, Edmunds turned in his second straight 100-tackle season for the Hokies and currently ranks sixth in the conference with 102 total tackles. His 14 tackles for loss rank third among ACC linebackers and eighth overall in the ACC. Edmunds, who leads the Hokies in tackles, TFL, sacks (5.5) and forced fumbles (3), helps anchor a Virginia Tech defense that paces the FBS with 16 Red Zone scores allowed and three shutouts. He earned ACC Linebacker of the Week honors following a 10-0 win at Virginia (11/24). - Virginia Tech Football
11/27/17 - Nov 27 Stock Report, Who helped themselves? Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech, JR. (6-4, 245, 4.82, #49)...Virginia's Micah Kiser is a smart, productive thumper who will play on Sundays, but with all due respect to him, the best NFL linebacker prospect in the Commonwealth Cup was Virginia Tech's Edmunds. He finished with nine tackles, including three for loss and a pair of sacks as the Hokies defense held the Cavaliers to under 200 total yards. Edmunds is a terrific athlete, especially for his size, but what truly stands out about his game is his ability to quickly diagnose the play. His reads consistently put him position to make plays, showing off the closing burst and finishing skills to disrupt the play design in its infancy. Edmunds needs to do a better job using his length and hands to work off blockers once he reaches the next level, but his athleticism, awareness and tackling ability are NFL starter worthy. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
11/27/17 - NOV 27 ACC LINEBACKER OF THE WEEK: Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech, Jr., LB, 6-5, 249, Danville, Va.,...Edmunds had nine total tackles, including three tackles for loss and a career-high two sacks in Virginia Tech's 10-0 win over Virginia in the Commonwealth Clash. Edmunds helped the "Lunch Pail Defense" allow only five yards on the ground in its FBS-leading third shutout of the season. Edmunds now ranks sixth in the ACC with 102 tackles and eighth with 14.0 tackles for loss. - ACC Football
09/09/17 - With such a young offensive team, No. 18 Virginia Tech knows there will be games this season in which its defense and special teams must lead the way. That was certainly the case Saturday in the Hokies' 27-0 win over lower-division opponent Delaware at Lane Stadium. Defense and special teams took charge, which is hardly a new story for Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech (2-0) held the Blue Hens to 223 yards in its home opener, forcing two turnovers and sacking Delaware quarterback Joe Walker four times. The Hokies thrived in the kicking game as well, with a punt return touchdown from Greg Stroman and two field goals from Joey Slye, including a career-long 50-yarder. Delaware (1-1), from the Football Championship Subdivision, was held scoreless for the first time since a 19-0 loss to Towson in 2015. "Getting the shutout is big time. That's not easy nowadays. We take pride in that," said Hokies junior linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who finished with a game-high 14 tackles, including four for loss, and 1.5 sacks with a forced fumble. - The Sports Xchange
07/10/17 - 2017 Preseason Bednarik Award Watchlist: LB Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech,...Edmunds ranked second on the team with 106 total tackles last season and tied for the team-lead with 18.5 tackles for loss. He also collected a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, 4.5 sacks and an interception that came in the Belk Bowl victory over Arkansas. The Danville, Virginia native earned second-team All-ACC honors from the league's coaches, the Associated Press and the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Edmunds finished the season ranked 15th in the ACC in tackles and tied for sixth in tackles for loss. - Virginia Tech Football
