Draft Scout Tanner Lee News
10/28/17 - Tanner Lee threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Stanley Morgan with 14 seconds remaining Saturday night, and Nebraska rallied from a 12-point, fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Purdue 25-24 in West Lafayette, Ind. Lee, who was 7 of 8 for 70 yards on the game-winning drive, finished 32 of 50 for 431 yards and two touchdowns - both during the final 11:03. Nebraska (4-4, 3-2 Big Ten) snapped a two-game losing streak and took a 4-2 lead in the all-time series against Purdue (3-5, 1-4). The Boilermakers had their losing streak extended to three, with those three losses coming by a combined of 11 points. Lee's 27-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Hoppes with 11:03 remaining brought the Cornhuskers within 24-19. That was a seven-play, 70-yard drive. David Blough's 14-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Anthrop with 14:23 left in the fourth quarter had given Purdue a 24-12 lead. The Boilermakers drove 57 yards in eight plays for their third touchdown. - The Sports Xchange
09/29/17 - Tanner Lee completed 17 of 24 pass attempts for 246 yards and three touchdowns as Nebraska cruised to a 28-6 win over Illinois in the first-ever Friday night conference matchup in the 121-year history of the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers (3-2, 2-0 Big Ten) led 21-3 at halftime after playing perhaps their best half of the season, opening with three-consecutive touchdown drives of 88, 75 and 89 yards respectively. Lee, who entered the game with seven touchdowns and nine interceptions, looked poised and confident in his first turnover-free performance since Nebraska's 43-36 win against Arkansas Sept. 2. Stanley Morgan Jr. caught eight passes for 96 yards and a touchdown after sitting out of the Cornhuskers' 27-17 win over Rutgers on Saturday with a soft tissue injury in his neck. De'Mornay Pierson-El added four catches for 94 yards, including a 45-yard grab that capped the first of the Cornhuskers' three-consecutive touchdown drives to open the game. - The Sports Xchange
09/23/17 - Junior quarterback Tanner Lee overcame another shaky performance to throw a pair of touchdown passes as Nebraska rebuffed stubborn Rutgers 27-17 on Saturday in Lincoln, Neb., handing the Scarlet Knights their 15th straight Big Ten loss. Lee, who threw three interceptions in last week's stunning 21-17 home loss to Northern Illinois, tossed two more picks Saturday -- giving him nine this season -- and finished 13 of 26 for 109 yards as the Cornhuskers (2-2, 1-0 Big Ten) snapped a two-game losing streak. Running back Mikale Wilbon rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries while wide receivers De'Mornay Pierson-El and freshman JD Spielman caught scoring passes for Nebraska. Quarterback Kyle Bolin was 15 of 29 for 126 yards and two interceptions for Rutgers (1-3, 0-1). Scarlet Knights running back Gus Edwards rushed for a touchdown while safety Kiy Hester returned an interception for a score. - The Sports Xchange
08/29/17 - QB Tanner Lee was voted a team captain, despite not yet playing a down for Nebraska. Coach Mike Riley wasn't surprised. "He came in as one of the guys, well liked and well respected," Riley said. "He's been there and has a very confident but relatively humble way of being, and I think the players look up to him."
08/16/17 - QB Tanner Lee, a big-armed transfer from Tulane, has been touted to be exactly what third-year coach Mike Riley wants in a quarterback and for the Nebraska passing game. Nothing through the first couple of weeks of camp changed the notion that greatly improved quarterback play is expected out of Lincoln. "It's been going great," Lee said after a recent practice.
