Draft Scout Tyler Lantrip News
03/21/12 - Many times during his football career, former Wolf Pack quarterback Tyler Lantrip was the only person who believed in himself. During today’s Wolf Pack Pro Day, Lantrip is looking for just one NFL scout to have that same trust in his ability. Lantrip is one of 15 players expected to participate in this year’s pro day, an event in which former Nevada standouts showcase their skills at Mackay Stadium in front of scouts from 15-25 NFL teams. “It’s definitely a big day,” Lantrip said. “For me, I think it’s only upside. I don’t think I’m really on the radar. I’m definitely under the radar. I just think this is a great opportunity for me to get in front of some scouts and show them what I can do, how I can throw the ball and show them my improved athleticism.” After the Wolf Pack season ended, Lantrip went to Duluth, Ga., where he trained with other draft hopefuls at Competitive Edge Sports. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound gun-slinger said he dropped his body fat reading by 2 percent, added 16 pounds of muscle and worked to improve his athleticism. “I feel like I accomplished everything I wanted to when I was there,” said Lantrip, who threw for 1,553 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions last season. “I’m a much improved athlete now. I’ve gotten faster. I have better lateral quickness. I think my body is the best it’s been.” - Chris Murray, Reno Gazette-Journal
