10/06/14 - S Dewey McDonald played in his first NFL game against the Baltimore Ravens and was credited with two special teams tackles. The rookie undrafted free agent had been signed from the practice squad earlier in the week.
09/29/14 - S Dewey McDonald was signed by the Colts from their practice squad Monday (Sept. 29).
05/13/14 - Indianapolis Colts Agree to Terms with 19 Undrafted Free Agents: Safety Dewey McDonald, 6-0, 220 pounds, transferred to California University of Pennsylvania from Fairmont State. As a senior captain with the Vulcans, he tallied a career-best 89 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, three interceptions (all returned for touchdowns) and eight passes defensed. His three interception returns for touchdowns made him the first PSAC player to accomplish the feat in over 10 years. For his performance, McDonald was named a Don Hansen All-America third-team choice, a D2football.com All-America honorable mention selection, a Don Hansen First Team All-Super Region One choice, a First Team All-Daktronics Super Region One selection and a First Team PSAC West choice. McDonald finished his career with the second-most career interception return yards (475) among active Division II players. He also corralled 12 career interceptions, including his five as a freshman at FSU. - Indianapolis Colts
10/01/13 - Cal U committed five turnovers (all interceptions) on Saturday in the fifth-annual Coal Bowl, suffering a 20-7 loss at No. 7 IUP. The Vulcans entered the weekend with a six-game winning streak in the longstanding rivalry. Cal U was held without an offensive touchdown, as senior DB Dewey McDonald scored the team's only touchdown on an 80-yard interception return. The Vulcans have returned an interception for a touchdown in three-straight games with McDonald becoming the first Cal U player in over a decade to return multiple interceptions for a touchdown in a season. Cal U was held under 100 rushing yards for the third time this season and the seventh time in the last 12 games. Sophomore P Andrew Cerett recorded a career-long 79-yard punt at IUP and averaged 54.2 yards on five punts. 09/08/13 - The Vulcans won its season-opener for the third time in four years, rallying for a 22-19 victory at Hillsdale on Saturday night. Sophomore QB Cody Schroder passed for three second-half touchdowns, including the game-winning score with 50 seconds left. Schroeder threw for a career-high 270 yards and connected with eight different receivers. Cal U was held scoreless in the first half for the first time since the 2011 season-opener.
Senior DB Dewey McDonald tied his career high with 15 tackles in his debut with the Vulcans (played at Fairmont State from 2009-11). The Vulcans blocked a pair of field goals (33, 50) in the first half. Head coach Mike Kellar improves to 4-0 all-time in season-openers (two wins at Concord). Cal U has opened the season with a GLIAC opponent four times since 2009 (3-1). The Vulcans managed just 37 rushing yards, marking only their second game since 2006 under 50 yards (IUP, 2012). - PSAC football
