Draft Scout Andre Caldwell News
05/05/16 - WR Andre Caldwell who became an unrestricted free agent with the Broncos March 9, was signed to a one-year contract by the Lions Thursday (May 5).
The 31-year-old Caldwell spent the past four seasons with the Denver Broncos after four years with the Cincinnati Bengals. His best year came in 2011 with the Bengals when he had 37 receptions for 317 yards and three touchdowns.
Last season for the Super Bowl-winning Broncos, Caldwell caught 10 passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one catch for 22 yards against the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl.
The Broncos used Caldwell minimally on offense the past two years. During that time, he had just 15 catches, but he contributed on special teams as a returner.
Caldwell joins Marvin Jones and undrafted free agents Jay Lee, Quinshad Davis and Jace Billingsley as offseason additions to the wide receiving corps. Jones, who left Cincinnati in free agency to sign with the Lions, is expected to start along with veteran Golden Tate this season.
09/11/15 - WR Andre Caldwell (illness) is listed as probable to face the Ravens.
"He's fine. He's good. I think Bubba, if we'd have pushed him yesterday, would have stayed," coach Gary Kubiak said. "It just didn't make any sense. He knows what he's doing. Get him home and get some rest. He had a good day today, so he's ready to go."
10/08/14 - WR Andre Caldwell practiced Wednesday, three days after leaving the win over Arizona with a knee injury.
10/06/14 - WR Andre Caldwell was walking without crutches in the locker room Monday, one day after he left the game with a knee injury.
01/09/14 - WR Andre Caldwell led the Broncos with six receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns in their Week 15 loss to San Diego, but is unlikely to play much unless one of the Broncos' top three receivers is injured. Caldwell was forced into extensive duty that night because of Wes Welker's second concussion in four games.
