Draft Scout C.J. Anderson News
11/12/15 - RB C.J. Anderson has not started the last two games, but he has been more effective in that span than Ronnie Hillman, who practiced and played through a thigh injury last week. Hillman was the dominant back in October and earned the starting job after the bye. Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said the division of work this week will depend on how they practice.
11/03/15 - RB C.J. Anderson did not start, but went over 100 yards for the first time this season. Head coach Gary Kubiak opted to give Ronnie Hillman the starting assignment Sunday, but he said he still considers the two running backs co-starters.
10/07/15 - If C.J. Anderson is rankled by seeing his workload diminished from being the primary back to part of a tandem with Ronnie Hillman, he isn't letting it show.
Anderson, who returns to the site of his breakout performance last year, received as many carries as Hillman against the Vikings. Broncos coach Gary Kubiak has declared the two to be co-starters, although Anderson is expected to be first up.
"It doesn't bother me. It doesn't motivate me. I think that we're doing what we can to do win ballgames," Anderson said.
This season has been a struggle for Anderson, who suffered a toe injury in Week 1 and has found scant running room behind a reshuffled offensive line. Hillman did not fare much better early, but he had his breakthrough in the second quarter last Sunday with a 72-yard sprint around left end.
"There are certain plays that No. 23 (Hillman) can run and there are certain plays that I can run," Anderson said. "That's what the coaches feel is best for us to win games, and that's what it's about. We're 4-0 right now by doing what we're doing, so don't fix what isn't broken."
10/06/15 - RB C.J. Anderson remains the starter, but is expected to evenly split carries with Ronnie Hillman. Each running back touched the football 12 times Sunday, and Hillman was the second-half starter.
09/29/15 - RB C.J. Anderson left in the first quarter to be tested for a concussion after a helmet-to-helmet collision, but returned and played throughout the second half. Most of his work was limited to running routes and pass protection as the Broncos leaned heavily on the pass.
