04/15/14 - 2014 NFL Draft Linebackers: *Carl Bradford, Arizona State, 6-1, 250, 4.76, 2...Played "Devilbacker" as hybrid, physical defender who split time among defensive end, outside and inside linebacker. Shows exceptional initial quickness off the snap, especially out of the three-point stance, and then can confound blockers with a club, rip or spin move. He started final 28 games of a 40-game career in which he recorded 154 tackles (110 solos) with 21.5 sacks (155 yards), 43 tackles for loss (213 yards), six quarterback pressures, eight deflected passes and two interceptions. Frankly: Bradford was the benefactor of an aggressive, disruptive college scheme and may not have instincts to play in space, but he can make a career out of that explosive pass rush and complementary moves. - Frank Cooney, The Sports Xchange
01/14/14 - Arizona State LB/DE Carl Bradford makes NFL Draft plans official...Carl Bradford appeared to be headed back to Arizona State for his senior year, but that has changed in the eleventh hour with the school confirming his decision to enter the 2014 NFL Draft. Per CBS Sports' Jeremy Fowler, Arizona State believed that Bradford was returning as of late last week. On Sunday night the star linebacker/defensive end informed the staff that he might turn pro and on Monday the school confirmed Bradford's exit through an official release.
The last day for underclassmen to declare for the 2014 draft is Wednesday. "It was an honor and a privilege to coach Carl Bradford at Arizona State University," Sun Devils' coach Todd Graham said in a prepared statement. "Carl leaves ASU with his degree and that is what we are most proud of. "Additionally, with players like Carl, Will Sutton, Chris Young, Osahon Irabor and Alden Darby we built the No. 1 defense in Pac-12 Conference play and one of the top rated units nationally. We want to be known for tough, stout defense at ASU and Carl helped us achieve that in 2012 and 2013. We appreciate Carl for being a great Sun Devil and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."
Bradford led Arizona State with 18 tackles for loss, adding 8.5 sacks one interception and three forced fumbles on the season. He was named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team and, prior to Monday's announcement, was considered among the top outside linebackers in the 2015 class. - Chip Patterson, CBSSports.com
01/13/14 - Report: ASU's Carl Bradford entering NFL Draft...Arizona State linebacker/defensive end Carl Bradford has signed with an agent and will start preparing for the NFL Draft, the Sports Business Journal reported Monday. According to an ASU official, Bradford has not yet informed the coaching staff of his intentions. But one source told azcentral sports he was pretty sure Bradford would not return for his senior season. The Sports Business Journal reported that Dave Dunn and Justin Schulman of Athletes First will repersent Bradford during the NFL Draft. Athletes First, based in Laguna Hills, Calif., also represents former NFL star Ray Lewis, as well as current stars Aaron Rodgers, Wes Welker, Reggie Wayne and Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer.
Bradford did not immediately respond to a text message seeking comment. The deadline to officially declare for the NFL Draft is Wednesday. Near the end of the season, Bradford, who recently earned his degree in criminal justice, requested feedback from the NFL advisory board, but his overall grade is not known. Perhaps the team's top overall athlete, he posted 61 tackles this season, including a team-high 19 for loss and 8.5 quarterback sacks. Bradford, a second-team All-Pac-12 selection, also had a key interception that he returned for a touchdown in ASU's Pac-12 South-clinching win at UCLA. - Doug Haller, AZ Central
01/13/14 - Arizona State defensive end/outside linebacker Carl Bradford will skip his senior season and become available for this year's NFL draft. Coach Todd Graham issued a statement reacting to Bradford's decision. Graham said it was "an honor and privilege" to coach Bradford. Graham added that Arizona State wants to be known for a tough, stout defense and that Bradford helped the Sun Devils achieve that the past two seasons. Bradford already has earned his degree in criminal justice. He had 61 tackles last season, including a team-high 19 for loss and 8½ sacks, and was a second-team all-Pac-12 selection. Bradford returned an interception for a touchdown in the victory over UCLA that clinched the Pac-12 South title. Bradford's departure will leave only two returning starters on defense for the Sun Devils. - AP Sports
12/30/13 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: ASU LB Carl Bradford is a physical freak, with 18 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He plays the Devil-backer position, needing to be an attacking force into the backfield and adept at covering running backs in the passing game, which should be an important skill in the bowl game as Tech effectively uses its running backs as pass-catchers. - The Sports Xchange
