01/20/15 - QB Tyler Bray suffered a torn ACL, apparently after the season ended. The Chiefs announced the injury, but didn't reveal how or when it happened. Said general manager John Dorsey, "Anytime one of your players suffers a significant injury like Tyler's it is disappointing, and we hurt for the player."
Bray spent the entire 2014 season on injured reserve after injuring his knee and ankle in the final preseason game.
The latest injury likely occurred prior to Jan. 7, which was only 10 days after the final regular-season. It was on that day that QB Terrelle Pryor had a tryout with the Chiefs, and he was signed the following day.
Said Dorsey, "With Tyler's injury having a longer recovery time, we've signed quarterback Terrelle Pryor to a reserve/futures contract. As we've said before, we are always looking to add talented players to our roster, and Terrelle was among the top players on our ready list at that position with his athleticism and experience. We believe having him in our quarterback room and working with our offensive coaches will enhance his growth."
09/01/14 - QB Tyler Bray suffered ankle and knee injuries in the preseason finale against Green Bay and the Chiefs decided that was enough to send him to the injured reserve list for the season. Bray did not appear injured in the locker room after the game and walked out under his own power. But he'll take the equivalent of a redshirt season in 2014.
08/29/14 - QB Tyler Bray suffered knee and ankle injuries in the Chiefs' final preseason game according to head coach Andy Reid. The team did not mention his problems after the game in Green Bay, but on Friday Reid acknowledged that his young quarterback came out of the game with a sore ankle. Then after the game, he had a swollen knee. How serious the injuries are and whether they will play a part in roster selection remains to be seen.
08/25/14 - QB Tyler Bray got his most extensive playing time of the preseason against Minnesota, as he directed the Chiefs' offense for five possessions in the second half. Although he started poorly, missing on his first seven throws, he eventually led the only touchdown drive of the game for Kansas City. Bray was seven-for-seven in that possession.
09/01/13 - Even before they played their final game of the preseason, the Chiefs had made the decision that rookie free agent quarterback Tyler Bray had beaten out holdover Ricky Stanzi for the No. 3 job behind starter Alex Smith and backup Chase Daniel.
Given a chance to play for more than a half against Green Bay, Bray showed the confidence in him was well founded. Working with the No. 2 and 3 offenses against backup defenders from the Packers, he threw three touchdown passes and led the Chiefs to their biggest preseason victory in a decade, topping Green Bay 30-8.
"I'm proud of him; it was awesome," said Daniel. "He finally got a chance to play and show what he's got. We all knew what he had physically, but tonight he was on point mentally. He played a heck of a game."
