 Draft Scout Mack Brown News
09/07/13 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: RB Mack Brown made the most of his first career start, finishing with 112 yards rushing on 25 carries and 2 TDs against Toledo. Starting RB Matt Jones has been cleared to play against Miami, but expect Brown and Jones to split carries until Jones is 100 percent. - The Sports Xchange
09/01/13 - WEEK 1 COLLEGE FOOTBALL, NICE DEBUT: Mack Brown had tears in eyes before the game and a smile on his face after. In between, he ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns - and vomited on the sideline. Not a bad start for Brown or No. 10 Florida, which beat Toledo 24-6. Brown ran 25 times, equally his carries from all of last season.

He was making his first career start, in the lineup in place of Matt Jones, who missed the opener while recovering from a viral infection. He is expected to return next week at Miami, but Brown certainly stated his case to get some carries the rest of the season. - AP Sports

08/31/13 - Mack Brown had a career day, Jeff Driskel was efficient and No. 10 Florida opened the season with a 24-6 victory over Toledo on Saturday. Brown ran 25 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Driskel completed 17 of 22 passes for 153 yards and a score. And Florida's defense, which ranked fifth in the country in 2012, looked every bit as good as last year's version despite losing eight starters and its coordinator.

The Gators controlled both lines of scrimmage, opening holes for Brown and keeping steady pressure on Toledo's experienced spread offense. It was exactly the style of play Florida has become known for under third-year coach Will Muschamp. No flashiness. Few highlight-reel plays. But a win in the end. It was Florida's 24th consecutive season-opening victory, the second-longest active streak in the country. Only Nebraska (27) has a longer current run. - AP Sports

08/10/12 - First-year Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease said the bar has been raised for redshirt sophomore RB Mack Brown in terms of production and accountability. "Sometimes what happens is coming out of high school you hear how great a guy is because of the media nowadays," Pease said. "They pump them up, pump them up, but still college football is a developmental program. To come in and play right away, it's tough. You still need two or three years to develop. ... I think that's where Mack is finally getting to. He's had some liabilities on things, and he's totally improved on those. He's worked on those all summer." - The Sports Xchange
