Draft Scout Trey Burton News
12/12/16 - TE/LS Trey Burton became the Eagles' emergency long-snapper on Sunday after starter Jon Dorenbos and then backup Brent Celek were forced from the game with injuries -- Dorenbos hurt his wrist and Celek strained a hamstring. Celek was healthy enough to try one snap on a field goal attempt, and his errant snap skipped past holder Donnie Jones and the Redskins recovered. That gave Washington great field position on their 46 and they took advantage by driving for a touchdown.
Then Celek got injured (stinger) and the Eagles were down to their third-string long-snapper and, of course, third-team long-snappers never get to work on that part of their game in practices. And even though Burton's snap wasn't perfect, Jones handled the high ball and Caleb Sturgis kicked a 41-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 22-21 lead.
"He did a great job," Burton said of Jones. "It was really high and he snagged it and brought it down."
Burton said he got to take a few hurried practice snaps before having to do the real thing in front of 70,000 people. But he said he wasn't nervous.
"I was excited," he said. "I practiced a little bit in college and then I did it a lot during training camp, but I haven't done it since training camp."
09/12/16 - TE Trey Burton, the team's third tight end, didn't play Sunday against Cleveland after suffering a minor calf injury during the week. He is expected to practice when the Eagles begin preparations for the Chicago game.
12/03/14 - TE Trey Burton was a full practice participant Wednesday. He was listed with a hamstring injury. He played last week against Dallas.
11/27/14 - TE Trey Burton left the game with a hamstring injury and didn't return. He didn't catch a pass and Eagles coach Chip Kelly didn't have an injury update.
08/31/14 - TE Trey Burton made the team as the Eagles' fourth tight end. Burton is the only undrafted rookie to make the team.
