Draft Scout Mike Davis News
01/22/14 - 2014 Senior Bowl Wednesday...Entering the week of practice, Vanderbilt's Jordan Matthews was receiving plenty of praise for his polish but Texas' Mike Davis has proven just as reliable as a route-runner and hand-catcher throughout the week. The 6-foot (and 3/8), 193-pound Davis' value is increased because of his sure hands and burst as a returner. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
12/12/13 - 2013 ALL-BIG 12 HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Mike Davis (WR)...Has been selected Honorable Mention All-Big 12 for the 2013 college football season by the Big 12 Coaches. - Texas football

10/09/13 - Texas' Mike Davis offers new apology for low block vs. Iowa State...If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. In his first attempt at "apologizing" for his ugly, late illegal block on Iowa State defensive back Deon Broomfield, Texas receiver Mike Davis made things worse Monday, shrugging off an official Big 12 reprimand to say he would "do the same thing" as long as an opposing defensive back was "loafing." Tuesday, however, Davis issued a much more traditional, more apologetic apology.
"I would like to issue a full apology for not only the play that occurred with Deon Broomfield of Iowa State, but everything that has surrounded this issue," Davis said in a statement issued by the Longhorn program. "My comments yesterday were not intended to indicate that I would ever do anything illegal or malicious, and I would never have any intent of hurting anyone or doing anything else outside of the rules ..."Most of all, I would like to apologize to Deon. He's a great player, and I would like to make sure he knows that my intent was never to hurt him, and that I am not that kind of a player. Again, I am sorry for what happened on the field and everything that has happened around that." - Jerry Hinnen, CBSSports.com
10/07/13 - Texas WR Mike Davis on cheap shot: 'I'd do the same thing' again...Texas wide receiver Mike Davis was not ejected for his late, low block on Iowa State safety Deon Broomfield, but he was penalized and issued a public reprimand from the Big 12 office. Iowa State fans were unhappy that Davis was not ejected and many have been calling for a suspension after the fact. Well those same fans will not be happy to hear Davis' remarks regarding the block. "If we have another run-pass situation, I'd do the same thing," Davis told reporters Monday. "If the DB's loafing, he deserves to get cut." The statement from the Big 12 office included words of warning moving forward, but you can bet officials will be on the look out for dirty play from Davis after those comments (which mirror his sentiments on Twitter after the game). - Chip Patterson, CBSSports.com
