 Draft Scout Mike Davis News
04/03/14 - 2014 Pro Days: Indiana's Latimer, Texas' Davis show off health, speed...Due to the disappointing 2013 campaign that ultimately cost head coach Mack Brown his job, Davis has also flown relatively low on the radar, given his fairly obvious talent. Despite a down year for virtually every one else on the offensive side of the ball, Davis caught a career-high eight touchdowns in 2013 (four times more than any other Longhorn). That success helped him earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl, where his reliable routes and hands caught my attention. On Wednesday, Davis was clocked between 4.46-4.48 according to a scout on hand for the workout, demonstrating the athleticism which earned him a ranking of 18th on NFLDraftScout.com's receiver board. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
01/22/14 - 2014 Senior Bowl Wednesday...Entering the week of practice, Vanderbilt's Jordan Matthews was receiving plenty of praise for his polish but Texas' Mike Davis has proven just as reliable as a route-runner and hand-catcher throughout the week. The 6-foot (and 3/8), 193-pound Davis' value is increased because of his sure hands and burst as a returner. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
12/12/13 - 2013 ALL-BIG 12 HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Mike Davis (WR)...Has been selected Honorable Mention All-Big 12 for the 2013 college football season by the Big 12 Coaches. - Texas football
12/12/13 - 2013 ASSOCIATED PRESS ALL-BIG 12 SECOND TEAM: WR Mike Davis, Texas, 6-2, 195, Sr., Dallas, Texas,...Davis is one of the top wide receivers in school history. He ranks fourth on both the UT career receptions list (195) and receiving yards chart (2,741). The senior leads the team this season in receiving yards (715) and receiving touchdowns (8), and is second in receptions (49). - Texas football
10/09/13 - Texas' Mike Davis offers new apology for low block vs. Iowa State...If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. In his first attempt at "apologizing" for his ugly, late illegal block on Iowa State defensive back Deon Broomfield, Texas receiver Mike Davis made things worse Monday, shrugging off an official Big 12 reprimand to say he would "do the same thing" as long as an opposing defensive back was "loafing." Tuesday, however, Davis issued a much more traditional, more apologetic apology.

"I would like to issue a full apology for not only the play that occurred with Deon Broomfield of Iowa State, but everything that has surrounded this issue," Davis said in a statement issued by the Longhorn program. "My comments yesterday were not intended to indicate that I would ever do anything illegal or malicious, and I would never have any intent of hurting anyone or doing anything else outside of the rules ..."Most of all, I would like to apologize to Deon. He's a great player, and I would like to make sure he knows that my intent was never to hurt him, and that I am not that kind of a player. Again, I am sorry for what happened on the field and everything that has happened around that." - Jerry Hinnen, CBSSports.com
