Draft Scout Ahmad Dixon News
08/21/14 - S Ahmad Dixon is ready to play against Miami after missing last week's game as discipline for being tardy to a walk-through practice the day before the game. "He responded better," coach Jason Garrett said. "It's an important week for him to come back and get himself in the mix and do what we are asking him to do. We have been pleased." The rookie seventh-round pick says he has learned his lesson.
"It's different," Dixon said. "When you're in college, a lot of your coaches are more like buddies to you. They call and check in and making sure everything is all good, but here you're on your own. Nobody is making sure you're up. Nobody is babying you. You've got to do it all on your own and you've got to be a pro."
08/17/14 - SS Ahmad Dixon was suspended for the preseason game against the Ravens because he was late to a walkthrough on Friday. "It was a coach's decision," coach Jason Garrett said of Dixon not playing against the Ravens. "He didn't practice all week because of the concussion he was dealing with from last week's game. We had intentions of playing him. But you have to handle your business. You have to be someone we can trust. Hopefully he will learn from this experience."
05/11/14 - A closer look at the Cowboys' picks: Round 7/248 -- Ahmad Dixon, SS, 6-0, 212, Baylor...The Cowboys see him as a hard-hitting box safety. He is a guy they hope to develop for the future. But he should have an immediate impact on specials. Could get into the mix at safety because of the youth and inexperience on the roster. - The Sports Xchange
04/29/14 - Five players who should be on Arizona's draft radar: SS Ahmad Dixon, Baylor: The Cardinals could use an enforcer in the back half of the defense and someone to compete with Tony Jefferson and others for the starting strong safety job. Dixon played the position at Baylor and is an extremely active run defender who loves to get his hands dirty and go for the knockout blow. He has the on-field temperament you want, but needs to clean up his tackling technique and button up hi reliability as a striker to avoid any illegal hits. Dixon will likely be asked to do things in the NFL that he didn't have to do in college and has the makings of a core special teams player and back-up strong safety who could push for playing time as he develops at the next level. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
01/01/14 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: Baylor S Ahmad Dixon is a lightning rod for controversy and a catalyst for the Bears. He was suspended for the first half of the Texas game after being ejected in the second half against TCU for targeting. Once he returned to the Texas game, the Bears went on a 17-0 surge that helped put away the Longhorns. But Dixon drew a celebration penalty that negated K.J. Morton's touchdown on an interception return. - The Sports Xchange
