 Draft Scout *Sharrif Floyd News
07/27/17 - DT Sharrif Floyd, whose career is in jeopardy because of a knee surgery gone bad last year, starts camp on the non-football injury list. Floyd missed all but the season opener a year ago. The former first-round draft pick had knee surgery and was expected to return shortly afterward. But complications with the surgery led to some nerve damage in the leg. Floyd's contract for this season was guaranteed, so the team is not giving up on his potential return. But it has made roster moves that indicate they doubt that Floyd will be back this season, or ever again.
07/24/17 - DT Sharrif Floyd was placed on the non-football injury list as he tries to move past the nerve issues caused by his right knee surgery last September. Floyd played in last year's season opener against the Tennessee Titans and then underwent knee surgery.
05/31/17 - DT Sharrif Floyd, a 2013 first-round draft pick, isn't sure he'll ever play again after complications from arthroscopic knee surgery last September caused some nerve damage in his right quadriceps. "Fighting to stay positive," said Floyd, who missed the last 15 games last season. "Sticking with my team. That's the bright side of things now. Just working out and training. I'm taking care of everything in my power and controlling what I can control."
12/12/16 - DT Sharrif Floyd was placed on injured reserve Monday. Floyd, a first-round draft pick (23rd overall) in 2013 out of Florida, played one game in 2016 before sustaining a right knee injury. He underwent knee surgery Sept. 22.
12/12/16 - DT Sharrif Floyd, who hasn't played since the season opener because of his inability to come back from knee surgery, was finally placed on injured reserve on Monday. Floyd originally was expected to miss only four weeks. Coach Mike Zimmer was asked if anything triggered the decision, such as another surgery. He said Floyd did not have another surgery. "It was just, we kept hanging around and hanging around," Zimmer said. "We may need the roster spot at some point."
