 Draft Scout News
05/12/14 - A closer look at the Saints' picks: Round 4/126 -- Khairi Fortt, ILB, 6-2, 240, California...Saints elect to go for power (30 bench reps) and speed (4.70) here despite limited college experience with just 10 starts at Penn State and Cal. - The Sports Xchange
04/21/14 - Five players who should be on Philadelphia's draft radar: LB Khari Fortt, California: Perhaps the biggest need for Philadelphia is finding a versatile linebacker who can rush and drop into pass coverage. Fortt, one of the players who took advantage of the adjusted transfer rules for Penn State players, has the size, strength and speed desired at the position, although his instincts and feel aren't where they need to be right now. His testing numbers will boost his value, but the medicals need to check out and the mental side needs to catch up, two areas that will cause him to slip to the mid-to-late rounds. But nonetheless, he is a good value late with a skill-set to become a Perry Riley type of NFL player. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
01/04/14 - California linebacker Khairi Fortt says he will forego his final year of college eligibility and declare for the NFL draft. The school confirmed Fortt's plans Friday after the defender announced his intentions early in the day on his Twitter account. Fortt, a transfer from Penn State in the summer of 2012, helped provide the Golden Bears with needed speed and playmaking ability in the linebacker corps. Fortt had 50 tackles in his two seasons at Penn State then had 64 tackles this year. Cal went 1-11 in coach Sonny Dykes' first season, losing its final 10. Fortt, who missed much of spring practice with a knee injury, became the third Cal junior to declare for the draft. - AP Sports
09/06/13 - LB Khairi Fortt suffered a mild concussion in the Northwestern game, but there's a pretty good chance he will be cleared to play against Portland State. - The Sports Xchange
08/12/13 - OTHER CALIFORNIA PROSPECTS WORTH WATCHING: OLB Khairi Fortt (6-2, 236, 4.67)*...One of the nine players who transferred from Penn State following the Jerry Sandusky scandal, Fortt was eligible to play in 2012 but was held out the entire season after undergoing knee surgery in the spring. Fortt played in 23 games at Penn State, recording 50 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks during this time. Athletic and intense, he could emerge as a standout for the Bears. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
