Draft Scout Dwayne Bowe News
08/26/14 - WR Dwayne Bowe will not play against Green Bay because of a quadriceps injury. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Bowe is making progress on his rehab. Bowe will not be able to practice or play until Sept. 8 as he serves a one-game NFL suspension.
08/25/14 - WR Dwayne Bowe did not play against Minnesota in preseason game No. 3 and likely will not play in the final exhibition game against Green Bay. Bowe has been dealing with a quad strain and combined with his one-game NFL suspension, Bowe may not be back on the practice field until September 10 when the Chiefs begin practicing for their second regular-season game.
08/15/14 - WR Dwayne Bowe has had a particularly difficult training camp and his struggles have not gone unnoticed around Missouri Western State University. On Thursday, coach Andy Reid revealed that Bowe has been dealing with a serious finger injury, which might explain why Bowe is having trouble catching passes. "His finger is shot," Reid said Thursday. "You can practice with that type of thing. I give credit to some of these guys that have pushed through some of the injuries." Bowe has not missed any practice time. He made one reception for 10 yards in last week's preseason opener against Cincinnati. Despite the injury, Bowe could see some action in Sunday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
08/15/14 - WR Dwayne Bowe was suspended for the season opener. According to ESPN, Bowe was banned for substance abuse and will miss the regular-season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
The suspension reportedly stems from an incident last November, when Bowe was stopped in Riverside, Mo., for speeding and possessing marijuana.
"Dwayne has been given a one-game suspension by the National Football League," the Chiefs said in a statement. "We are disappointed in the situation and will miss him on the field, but we support the league's decision. The club will have no further comment on the matter."
Bowe, a first-time offender, pleaded guilty to amended charges of littering and defective equipment. He paid a $610 fine. The passenger in Bowe's car told police the marijuana belonged to him and that Bowe did not know it was in the car.
"I am extremely sorry that I can't be on the field for the first game of the 2014 season because I made an error in judgment," Bowe said in a statement. "I take responsibility for my mistake, and it will not happen again. I hope that my teammates, coaches, and Chiefs fans accept my sincere apology. I will be supporting my teammates in week one, and I cannot wait to get back on the field to help us win in week two and beyond as we work towards our goal of winning the Super Bowl."
Bowe can play in Sunday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers but has been dealing with a serious finger injury. He has not missed any practice time. He made one reception for 10 yards in last week's preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
01/06/14 - WR Dwayne Bowe caught eight passes for 150 yards against Indianapolis, establishing a new Chiefs postseason record for receiving yardage. Bowe's performance broke the previous standard of 142 yards set by wide receiver Stephone Paige in January of 1991. His eight receptions tied the team's post-season record, sharing the top spot with Paige, wide receiver Andre Rison and running back Ed Podolak.
