 Draft Scout Dwayne Bowe News
08/12/15 - WR Dwayne Bowe has been out with a hamstring injury since Aug. 5 and will not play Thursday.
08/10/15 - WR Dwayne Bowe is sidelined because of a hamstring injury and is unlikely to play in the preseason opener against the Redskins on Thursday.
03/20/15 - WR Dwayne Bowe officially signed with the Browns Friday (March 20). The Kansas City Chiefs released Bowe last week after they signed wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to a five-year, $55 million contract. The Chiefs' first-round pick in 2007, Bowe has caught 532 passes for 7,155 yards and 44 touchdowns in eight years. He led the NFL with 10 touchdown catches in 2010. However, his production had fallen off over the last three seasons. Last season, he caught just 60 passes for 754 yards and no touchdowns. The Browns think he can help their offense, which is expected to be led by new quarterback Josh McCown. "Dwayne is a player that adds a big, tough and physical presence to our group," general manager Ray Farmer said. "His ability to play in high traffic areas of the field for contested catches is something we really like. We have talked about having a versatile group of wide receivers that can align and play from various positions, and he can do that. His position versatility to go inside and outside the numbers appeals to us in a variety of ways. We look forward to seeing how he will help our team." Bowe said he looks forward to playing in front of Cleveland fans. "The Browns were the perfect situation from the fan base to the style of offense and the way I'll be utilized to help the team go to the next level," he said. "After eight years, you're a pro's pro. I've had every style of coaching, every personality. I've been through a lot and it's going to make this transition a little easier because of what I've been through. The fan base is crazy just like Kansas City and is something I'm excited to be a part of. The positive energy I'm going to bring to the locker room is definitely going to take the Dawg Pound to the next level." Bowe figures to replace the suspended Josh Gordon as Cleveland's top receiver. The Browns also have added former Miami Dolphin Brian Hartline and still have Andrew Hawkins, who caught 63 passes for 824 yards in 201
03/19/15 - WR Dwayne Bowe, who was released by the Chiefs on March 12, agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Browns Thursday (March 19).
03/12/15 - WR Dwayne Bowe was released by the Chiefs on Thursday. The was expected after the Chiefs signed wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to a five-year, $55 million contract on Wednesday. Bowe tweeted: "I want to thank the entire Chiefs organization from the bottom of my heart. You believed in me and gave me the chance to play in the NFL. I will be forever grateful." The Chiefs' first-round pick in 2007, Bowe caught 532 passes for 7,155 yards and 44 touchdowns in eight years. He led the NFL with 10 touchdown catches in 2010. However, his production had fallen off over the last three seasons. Last season, he caught just 60 passes for 754 yards and no touchdowns. Bowe, 30, was scheduled to make $11 million this year, and the Chiefs will save $5 million against the salary cap by releasing him. "On behalf of my family and the entire Chiefs organization, I'd like to thank Dwayne for his contributions over the last eight seasons," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "During his time with the Chiefs, Dwayne established himself as one of the best receivers in club history. We wish Dwayne nothing but the best as he moves forward."
