10/14/14 - CB Victor Hampton was signed to the practice squad by the Giants Tuesday (Oct. 14). Hampton, 5-9 and 199 pounds, was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as a rookie free agent from South Carolina on June 11. He was waived on Aug. 31. Hampton played in four preseason games and had five tackles and two passes defensed.
06/11/14 - CB Victor Hampton was signed by the Bengals Wednesday, June 11.
04/16/14 - South Carolina CB Victor Hampton reportedly arrested...Hampton was a highly sought prep who originally signed with Florida out of high school. After redshirting in 2010, Hampton emerged as a valuable part of the rotation in 2011 and started the past two seasons for the Gamecocks, collecting 85 tackles and four interceptions during that time. While his talent is undeniable, Hampton's over-aggression on and off the field is disconcerting.
According to Coyne's report, Hampton was briefly suspended from the team in 2011. The article also notes that Hampton and former teammate Kelcy Quarles (also a potential mid-round draft pick) are currently under investigation by the New York Police Department for an alleged assault at a nightclub. It is important to note that neither Hampton nor Quarles have been charged in the New York City incident. Details of the assault on Michael Hauer, a promoter for the Greenhouse club, however, are disturbing and could be enough to force teams to begin their own investigations. Given that the draft is now just over three weeks away, some teams may opt not to... and simply remove the players from their board. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
