12/03/13 - 2013 ALL-PAC-12 HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): DB Damante Horton, Sr.,...Horton picks up his second career All-Pac-12 honorable mention honor, receiving the same recognition in 2011. The Oakland, Calif. native tied for the team-lead and was tied for fourth in the conference with five interceptions, three he returned for touchdowns (USC, Southern Utah, Utah). Horton made 43 tackles and broke up three passes.
He picked off two passes in the win at USC, one he returned 70 yards for a score before he later sealed the game with his second interception in the final minutes. Hortonís four career interception returns for touchdowns are a WSU record. - Washington State football
09/12/13 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: CB Damonte Horton was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after his pick-six won the game for Washington State at USC. Horton had two picks on the night, one of which he returned 70 yards for a touchdown. - The Sports Xchange
09/11/13 - Washington State senior Damante Horton was awarded the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week award and was named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week after his stellar play in the Cougars 10-7 upset win over 25th ranked USC Trojans. Horton picked off two passes in the game, one which he returned 70 yards for the Cougs only touchdown of the game, and the other a game-stealing pick with only seconds left in the fourth quarter.
The five-foot-ten cornerback from Oakland also added a career-best two tackles for loss while limiting last year's Biletnikoff winner in USC wide receiver Marqise Lee to just 27 yards on seven catches. Horton will get his chance to shine for the first time at home this Saturday as 2-0 Southern Utah comes to Pullman. - WLEW TV News
09/09/13 - SEPT 9 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PERFORMANCE AWARDS DEFENSIVE BACK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK: Damante Horton (Washington State)...Horton (5-10, 175) led a spirited defensive effort by the Cougars in their 10-7 upset win over No. 25/22 USC in Los Angeles. Trailing 7-0 late in the first half, Horton picked off a Cody Kessler pass and raced 70 yards for the touchdown, tying the game at 7-7. It marked Hortonís second career interception return for a touchdown, the first coming at Oregon in 2011. Horton then sealed WSUís victory by stepping in front of a Max Wittek pass with just over two minutes remaining in the game, ending the USC comeback attempt and giving the Cougars their first win over a ranked team since the 2006 season, when they defeated No. No. 16 Oregon, 34-23. It was WSUís first win over USC since 2002 and first win over the Trojans in Los Angeles since 2000.
Throughout the game Horton led the WSU secondary that held All-American receiver Marquis Lee in check, limiting Lee to seven catches for only 27 yards. Horton ended the game with two interceptions for 75 return yards. He added four tackles, including a career-best two tackles-for-loss for a combined 12 yards. 09/09/13 - WEEK 2 PAC-12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cornerback Damante Horton, a senior from Oakland, Calif., led a spirited defensive effort by Washington State in the Cougars 10-7 win over No.22/25 USC Trojans in the first Conference game of season. The cornerback stepped in front of a USC pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown to even the score at 7-7 just before halftime. Horton collected his second interception with less than a minute remaining to seal the victory for Washington State, ending the game with two interceptions for 75 return yards and a career-best two tackles for a loss for 12 yards. He was also tasked with covering USC All-American receiver Marquise Lee, who was limited to 27 yards on seven catches.
