Draft Scout John Jenkins News
12/01/14 - NT John Jenkins started for the first time this season with Brodrick Bunkley on injured reserve and had five total tackles in the win against the Steelers.
09/29/14 - NT John Jenkins was a healthy inactive for the third time in four regular-season games on Sunday against the Cowboys.
09/22/14 - NT John Jenkins, a third-round draft pick in 2013, was a healthy inactive for the second time in three games on Sunday when the Saints played the Vikings.
08/16/14 - NT John Jenkins, who had a torn pec in the offseason, didn't play Friday night after coming off the physically unable to perform list last week.
08/11/14 - NT John Jenkins, a second-year pro, has been working on the side with trainers as he recovered from a torn pectoral muscle that he apparently suffered early in the team's offseason workouts this spring.
Jenkins didn't line up in seven-on-seven work or team drills, but he did participate in individual drills Monday.
He went one-on-one with center Tim Lelito twice during the drills, overpowering him once when Lelito slipped, and then battled to a draw the second time they squared off.
Saints coach Sean Payton said they'll be careful not to rush Jenkins, a third-round draft pick last season, back too quickly. But he seemed pleased to know that Jenkins, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 359 pounds, hadn't gained a lot of weight while he was sidelined from strenuous drills.
"I'd say it's difficult sometimes when you're injured and you're a bigger guy," Payton said of Jenkins, who started early last year when Brodrick Bunkley was hurt. "It's tough to be injured and still get the workouts in as necessary. His weight last year was solid, but it's something he's conscientious of."
