 Draft Scout Dontae Johnson News
10/16/14 - CB Dontae Johnson would serve as the 49ers' third outside corner against Denver on Sunday night if, as it appears, both Tramaine Brock and Jimmie Ward do not play. Johnson did well as an injury replacement in Monday's win over St. Louis, contributing to the victory with a late-game interception that he returned for a touchdown.
10/15/14 - CB Dontae Johnson was the only healthy cornerback at 49ers practice Wednesday, leading to the possibility he might make his first start Sunday at Denver. Johnson played as an injury replacement in Monday's win over St. Louis and contributed to the victory with a late-game interception that he returned for a touchdown. He was nominated for NFL.com's Pepsi Rookie of the Week.
10/14/14 - CB Dontae Johnson returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown to clinch the 49ers' win over the St. Louis Rams on Monday night. Johnson, who was playing in place of injured Jimmie Ward, said it was his first touchdown since high school, when he was an offensive player. The interception was his first of the season.
09/08/14 - CB Dontae Johnson took over at cornerback when DB Chris Culliver suffered a concussion in Sunday's win over Dallas. He broke up two passes, the only 49ers defender credited with multiple break-ups in the game.
05/12/14 - QUOTES TO NOTE: "Honestly, Richard Sherman, he'a great athlete, great competitor, but his work ethic has gotten him to where he is. the great success that he has came from his work ethic. Hopefully I can e half the man that he was and just bring that work ethic to practice...I'm not Richard Sherman, I'm Dontae Johnson and hopefully I'll hope to build my name just work off of my work ethic." 49ers fourth-round corner Dontae Johnson (6-2, 200) on comparisons to Richard Sherman. - The Sports Xchange
