Draft Scout DaQuan Jones News
12/05/13 - 2013 ALL-BIG TEN FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DaQuan Jones, Penn State, Defensive Line...Jones led Penn State with 11.5 tackles for loss (minus-42 yards). He was fifth on the squad with 56 tackles (33 solo), recorded three sacks (minus-21) and had a fumble recovery. A starter in 23 games over the past two seasons, Jones led all Big Ten defensive tackles in hits this season. The former Johnson City Senior HS standout is the 13th different Nittany Lion defensive lineman to earn first-team All-Big Ten honors since 1998 under the tutelage of defensive line coach Larry Johnson.
"It means a lot to be part of the rich history and tradition of all the great players at Penn State," said Jones. "This shows how far I've been able to come over the last year. And I could not have grown without the help of the rest of the defensive line and the defense. I've always worked hard because I wanted to leave a mark on the program. To join the group of all of the great defensive linemen is awesome. It's something that you can't even describe. It is a great feeling." - Penn State football

09/12/13 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: DT DaQuan Jones is off to a torrid start, registering a team-best 18 tackles (12 solos) and five tackles for loss through the first two games after making only eight solo tackles all season in 2012. Jones dropped nearly 25 pounds during the offseason and is quicker and able to be more productive late in games than he was last year. He's been one of the keys to a defense that is allowing only 1.8 rushing yards per carry. - The Sports Xchange
09/04/13 - Scouting the Penn State run defense: Even with one of its starting linebackers sidelined for most of the game with an injury, Penn State was ferocious against two talented Syracuse running backs, holding Jerome Smith and Prince-Tyson Gulley to 97 yards on 28 carries. Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones is lighter, quicker and a handful for offensive linemen and linebacker Glenn Carson is stout in the middle of the defense. Safeties Malcolm Willis, Adrian Amos, Ryan Keiser and Stephen Obeng-Agyapong are all very solid against the run and new starting cornerbacks Jordan Lucas and Trevor Williams showed a willingness to get physical as well in their starting debuts. - The Sports Xchange
08/14/13 - OTHER PENN STATE PROSPECTS WORTH WATCHING: DT DaQuan Jones (6-3, 324, 5.38)...Playing next to the more explosive Jordan Hill at defensive tackle, it was easy to overlook Jones last season, but he brings a different and almost as valuable skill-set to the field. He has a wide base and broad shoulders and wins with his brute strength and power to take on multiple blocks and overwhelm blockers. Jones showed improved instincts towards the end of last season, but he will struggle with leverage and lacks ideal range. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
