Draft Scout T.J. Jones News
08/14/15 - WR TJ Jones missed his entire rookie year, including the preseason, but looked like someone worthy of a sixth-round pick during his opportunities Thursday. He finished with a 15-yard catch and had a 9-yarder negated by a defensive penalty. He also had punt returns of 24, 20 and 14 yards, though penalties negated most of the yards on the 20- and 14-yarders.
"My initial thoughts would be that we're blocking better up front and giving guys a chance to get started and once TJ got started, he was able to make some things go," head coach Jim Caldwell said of Thursday's punt returns. "He has speed, he's slippery enough to get through some small cracks that he had there, and I think he did a very nice job."
Asked about being hit in a game for the first time since December 2013, Jones said his reaction was, "Finally."
"It was like, ĎAll right, I got hit; it's good. I feel normal, get back up,'" he said. "It's just like the football I've played in the past, so it's definitely a good feeling."
12/08/14 - WR TJ Jones (shoulder) will remain on PUP for the rest of his rookie year after his practice time expired Monday
11/17/14 - WR T.J. Jones was listed as returning to practice Monday (Nov. 17), while remaining on reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP). That begins a 21-day window in which Jones can return to the active roster, be released or remain on PUP for the remainder of the season.
10/13/14 - WR TJ Jones, a sixth-round pick, could return to practice this week. Because Jones is on the physically unable to perform list with a shoulder injury, the Lions have a five-week window in which Jones can begin practicing. After he returns to practice, the Lions will have another 21 days before they must add him to the 53-man roster.
08/24/14 - WR T.J. Jones was placed on reserve/physically unable to perform Saturday because of a shoulder injury.
