01/14/13 - The 2013 Florida State defense got a boost on Monday evening when linebacker Christian Jones, the team's leading tackler, announced he’d be returning for his senior year. “A lot of guys the past couple of years have helped to turn the program around,” Jones said in a press release issued by the university. “And I want to continue to be a part of that process. I’ve always talked with some of the guys I came in with and we’ve always talked about finishing together and that’s also something I wanted to do. “This is the best decision for me and my family.”
It’s a pretty good one for new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt as well. Jones led the Seminoles with 95 tackles and had eight or more in seven of his last nine games, including a 10-tackle performance in FSU’s 31-10 win over Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl. 01/07/13 - When Lamarcus Joyner was recruited, Fisher told him that he, junior linebacker Christian Jones and former linebacker Jeff Luc, would be the foundation of FSU’s journey back to notoriety. “I’m very excited that Lamarcus is going to return for his senior season,” Fisher said. “He’s such a great leader and ambassador for our university and football program. He still has some goals he wants to accomplish.”
The last remaining question mark on the team is Jones, who still hasn’t decided on if he will enter the draft or not. Jones informed his friends and followers on Facebook Thursday that he is still weighing his options while he visits with family.
