 Draft Scout Lamarcus Joyner News
05/12/14 - A closer look at the Rams' picks: Round 2/41 - Lamarcus Joyner, CB, 5-8, 184, Florida State...Joyner plays bigger than his size, not much different than former Louisiana State defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, who is now with the division rival Arizona Cardinals. He should strengthen the Rams' defense as a nickel defender in the slot. He has been durable in college, but will have to show he can do the same at the NFL level. - The Sports Xchange
05/08/14 - 2014 DRAFT SCOUT FINAL TOP 100: 53/6. Lamarcus Joyner, CB, Florida State, 5-08, 184, 4.47, 2...Small and not really blazing fast, but Joyner is a football junky with an innate feel for the game. High school phenom at prep powerhouse St. Thomas Acquinas, where he was USA Today's National Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Joyner played safety and corner in a college career that included 15 pass deflections, eight interceptions and an average of 24.23 yards on kickoffs. Frankly: Joyner plays much bigger than he measures, hits like the linebacker he was in high school, and his shocking zero-to-gone acceleration will help as a returner. - Frank Cooney, NFLDraftScout.com
05/06/14 - Dane Brugler's 2014 NFL Draft Final Top-50: 34. LaMarcus Joyner FS, Florida State (5-8, 184, 4.55, SR)...Despite his short stature, Joyner is the type of player who is impossible to ignore because of the way he jumps off the tape. His lack of size will show up in man coverage and run support, but he plays fast and decisive with violent attitude, projecting him to a nickel role. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
04/21/14 - 2014 NFL Draft Defensive Backs: Lamarcus Joyner, Florida State, 5-08, 184, 4.55...Small and not really blazing fast, but Joyner is a football junkie with an innate feel for the game. - Frank Cooney, The Sports Xchange
03/26/14 - 2014 Pro Days: NFL flocks to Florida State workout...While most of the top-rated prospects chose not to run during the timed tests, Joyner and Smith showed off their fluidity during positional drills. Joyner, in particular, was impressive changing directions and accelerating swiftly. Unfortunately, he let a couple of potential interceptions slip through his fingers. The versatile defensive back is currently rated as the No. 53 overall prospect and seventh among cornerbacks in this class, although many teams view him as a cornerback/safety hybrid. Jones struggled in positional drills, showing less-than-ideal flexibility. He is currently rated as the No. 123 overall prospect and a likely mid-round pick. A contingent from the New Orleans Saints, including assistant coaches Rob Ryan and Joe Vitt, orchestrated the linebacker drills. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
