 Draft Scout Lamarcus Joyner News
03/26/14 - 2014 Pro Days: NFL flocks to Florida State workout...While most of the top-rated prospects chose not to run during the timed tests, Joyner and Smith showed off their fluidity during positional drills. Joyner, in particular, was impressive changing directions and accelerating swiftly. Unfortunately, he let a couple of potential interceptions slip through his fingers. The versatile defensive back is currently rated as the No. 53 overall prospect and seventh among cornerbacks in this class, although many teams view him as a cornerback/safety hybrid. Jones struggled in positional drills, showing less-than-ideal flexibility. He is currently rated as the No. 123 overall prospect and a likely mid-round pick. A contingent from the New Orleans Saints, including assistant coaches Rob Ryan and Joe Vitt, orchestrated the linebacker drills. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
02/20/14 - 2014 NFL Draft Scout Pre-Combine Top 64 Prospects: 47. Lamarcus Joyner, CB, Florida State, 5-8, 190, 4.52, 2...NFLDraftScout.com says NFL teams will be hard-pressed to find a better inch-for-inch defender in the country, but the fact is he is only 5-foot-8. This tough, versatile, instinctive defender played strong safety in 2011 and earned second-team All-ACC honors there. Joyner started all 14 games as a junior, giving him 27 consecutive starts at safety before moving back to cornerback. Excellent return skills. - Frank Cooney, The Sports Xchange
01/06/14 - Scouting the pass defense: The Seminoles have arguably the best secondary in the nation and lead FBS with 25 interceptions, only 152 passing yards allowed per game and in scoring defense at 10.7 points per game. The Tigers have the 104th-ranked passing defense at 260 yards per game allowed, and have shown a propensity for giving up the big play, including a 99-yard touchdown against Alabama and two long bombs against Missouri. - The Sports Xchange
12/13/13 - 2013 WALTER CAMP FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: DB Lamarcus Joyner, Florida State, 5-8 190, Sr., Fort Lauderdale, FL...Joyner, who is also a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award and the Jim Thorpe Award, entered his final game at Doak Campbell Stadium with a team-high five sacks -- a large number considering the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native plays in the defensive secondary. In fact, no other defensive back in college football has more sacks than Joyner this season. Joyner is also second on the team in tackles with 51 total stops and has 6 1/2 tackles for loss. He also has one interception, three pass breakups, four passes defended, two quarterback hurries and at team-best three forced fumbles. - Florida State football
12/13/13 - 2013 ALL-ACC FIRST TEAM (COACHES): CB-Lamarcus Joyner, Sr., Florida State (38)...Has been selected First Team All-ACC for the 2013 college football season by the ACC Coaches. - Florida State football
