09/15/14 - S Tyrann Mathieu played for the first time since suffering two torn knee ligaments last Dec. 8. Mathieu was in on five snaps, when the Cardinals used seven defensive backs. He had one tackle in Sunday's 25-14 win over the Giants. "I'll be patient, stay humble," he said. "It was great to get back out there, I was hoping to play a little bit more. I really wasn't put in a situation where I had to use my quickness or instincts. But I think everybody played well so I didn't have a chance to get out there much."
09/11/14 - S Tyrann Mathieu is "getting very, very close" to be able to play in a game, head coach Bruce Arians said. Mathieu is returning from two torn knee ligaments and is practicing in full pads. The Cardinals have long targeted Week 5, after their bye, for Mathieu's return. But it could be sooner.
"If he's ready to go for San Francisco (Week 3), he'll be out there. If he's ready for New York, we'll determine that Friday," Arians said.
09/09/14 - S Tyrann Mathieu, who underwent surgery last December to repair two torn ligaments in his left knee, was placed on the inactive list for the game. He will have to wait at least another week to make his return.
09/03/14 - FS Tyrann Mathieu said he feels better this week than last and is hopeful of playing Monday night against the Chargers. Mathieu is coming back from two torn knee ligaments and didn't play in the preseason.
09/01/14 - FS Tyrann Mathieu is hoping to play in the season opener against the Chargers, but the odds aren't great. Coach Bruce Arians said if Mathieu didn't play in the fourth preseason game he wouldn't play in the opener. After the game, Mathieu said he thought Arians was kidding. "I wasn't kidding," Arians said. Arians, however, left some wiggle room, saying Mathieu had to tackle in practice before playing in a game.
