08/23/14 - DE Damontre Moore has mostly worked with the second team this summer, where he has played well. However, he was extra excited to have an opportunity to play against Jets quarterback Michael Vick, who stepped in for projected starter Geno Smith, behind the Jets' first-team offensive line.
The highlight for Moore against the Jets was earning a one-yard sack against Vick.
"He's one of the pioneers of that whole scrambling quarterback being fast and elusive to tackle him," Moore said after the game. "He's a guy that I watched and played with on Madden.
"It was a big honor and it felt good just to get a sack in general but then also get it with a guy you used to play with on Madden and look up to and one of the pioneers of the running quarterback? Why not?"
Regardless of who the sack came against, Moore and the coaches are hoping that there are many more to come for this young man, who in his second season is already worlds ahead of where he was as a rookie, both against the pass and against the run.
"I still feel like I have more gears to hit," Moore said when asked about his progress this summer. "It's only the fourth game of the preseason and this is a long rigorous schedule.
"At the end of the day, it's about constantly improving as time progresses, which I feel like I do every year. Right now, it's a good thing, going to watch film and fix what I need to fix. Let's constantly get better and see where I am at the end of the year."
05/18/14 - DE Damontre Moore, who had offseason surgery on his shoulder in January, estimates he is about "95 percent" back from that procedure and about halfway through his offseason goal of adding another 15 pounds of muscle, according to The Star-Ledger.
Moore, who will compete for departed Justin Tuck's former job, told the Ledger that he hasn't yet been cleared for contact, but that should be coming soon.
"I just want to go out there -– and if that's me starting, or whatever, that's great -– and do my job. If that's on special teams, that's great, too. At the end of the day, my opportunity will come to me."
10/08/13 - DE Damontre Moore (hamstring) missed his second day of practice and is unlikely to be ready to play Thursday night.
09/30/13 - DE Damontre Moore, who had a partially blocked punt and who had a solid showing on special teams, is "close" to joining the defensive end rotation, according to head coach Tom Coughlin.
09/16/13 - DE Damontre Moore, who burst onto the scene with an impressive showing in the Giants' preseason opener only to miss the last several weeks with a shoulder injury, made his NFL debut, but did not post any statistics. He took one snap on defense.
