Draft Scout *Alec Ogletree News
09/13/16 - LB Alec Ogletree, who moved to middle linebacker from the outside, had 12 tackles - 11 solo - and was one of the only bright spots in an otherwise bleak night. But he believes better days are ahead. "It was more so that we beat ourselves tonight," he said. "Credit them they did what they had to do to win the game. I definitely feel like we beat ourselves tonight. We did not play our style of football. We will bounce back. Nobody is down on each other. It definitely sucks to lose, but it is week one. We have a long season now we have a tough opponent coming in next week. We have to definitely turn our attention there."
09/02/16 - ILB Alec Ogletree has settled in at his new role at middle linebacker and calling the defensive plays.
08/22/16 - LB Alec Ogletree is settling in in his new role at middle linebacker and the new voice he has in calling and setting up the defense. Ogletree was not happy with the performance of the defense in the opener against the Dallas Cowboys -- who converted two long touchdown drives - and put the blame largely on his shoulders. Ogletree was much more satisfied after Saturday's win over the Kansas City Chiefs, especially the three and out the Rams forced on the Chiefs second drive.
08/18/16 - ILB Alec Ogletree isn't just making the transition from outside linebacker to inside, he's also assuming the role or relaying defensive play calling and aligning his teammates.
As far as the position switch, Ogletree is pleased with his first dip into the water in the Rams' 28-24 win over the Cowboys on Saturday.
"It's a work in progress," he said, "but I'm definitely happy with what I put on film this past weekend."
But with the Cowboys first-team offense marching 80 yards in 11 plays for a touchdown against Ogletree and the Rams first-string offense, Ogletree takes responsibility for the not getting the Rams straightened out schematically.
"It definitely falls on me," he said. "I talk to the guys, show them the pictures, show them what we're supposed to be doing.
05/02/16 - LB Alec Ogletree had his fifth-year option exercised by the Rams for the 2017 season. The Rams will pay Ogletree $8.369 million in 2017. He was a first-round pick in 2013.
Ogletree, 24, has been a starter since joining the Rams but missed 12 games last season with a broken leg. He made 42 tackles and two sacks in four games. Over three seasons, Ogletree has 270 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions in 36 games.
