 Draft Scout Lee Pegues News
12/17/13 - 2013 ALL-CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DL - Lee Pegues, East Carolina, Sr.,...Pegues rounds out the Pirates all-conference selection taking home his first career honor after earning honorable mention status last season. The defensive end will be appearing in his third bowl game when the Pirates square off against Ohio in the Beef `O'Brady's Bowl on December 23rd. On the season, Pegues has booked 27 tackles (nine solo) and ranks fourth on the team with 4.5 sacks for minus 23 yards. Against FAU he registered a career-best 3.0 sacks (-14 yards), which is tied for the third-most by an FBS player in 2013. In all, he has 6.0 TFLs, three QBHs, pass breakup, forced fumble and fumble recovery. Following ECU's bowl game, he is scheduled to participate in the South Carolina All-Star Game. - East Carolina football
12/13/12 - 2012 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): DL-Lee Pegues, Jr., East Carolina, has been selected Honorable Mention All-Conference USA (Coaches selection) for the 2012 college football season. Pegues was another stalwart along the defensive line for the Pirates, appearing in all 12 games with 11 starts primarily at the defensive end slot. Among all linemen, Pegues ranks third on the team in tackles with 31. He is also tied for third among all defenders in tackles for lost yardage with 4.5. He recovered the first fumble of his career against UTEP, tied his career-high with six stops against Memphis and tallied two tackles for lost yardage among his four stops against UAB. - East Carolina football
09/06/12 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: South Carolina isn't the stereotypical Steve Spurrier team; the Gamecocks run the ball a lot behind Marcus Lattimore, and also features dual-threat quarterback Connor Shaw. ECU coach Ruffin McNeill is hopeful that his team's 3-4 defense will cause the Gamecocks problems. "It gives us flexibility and the ability to adjust to offensive changes. We can also have better gap integrity running this system," he said. PLAYERS TO WATCH: DE Lee Pegues -- Of the 12 South Carolina natives on the ECU roster, Pegues is in the best position to make an impact. In addition to starting at defensive end, he may see snaps at nose tackle as well depending on how well Michael Brooks is recovering from his injured knee. - The Sports Xchange
