09/06/12 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: South Carolina isn't the stereotypical Steve Spurrier team; the Gamecocks run the ball a lot behind Marcus Lattimore, and also features dual-threat quarterback Connor Shaw. ECU coach Ruffin McNeill is hopeful that his team's 3-4 defense will cause the Gamecocks problems. "It gives us flexibility and the ability to adjust to offensive changes. We can also have better gap integrity running this system," he said. PLAYERS TO WATCH: DE Lee Pegues -- Of the 12 South Carolina natives on the ECU roster, Pegues is in the best position to make an impact. In addition to starting at defensive end, he may see snaps at nose tackle as well depending on how well Michael Brooks is recovering from his injured knee. - The Sports Xchange
