12/31/13 - USC defensive lineman George Uko declares for draft...Another USC Trojan has declared his intention to enter the 2014 NFL Draft. Following in the footsteps of safety Dion Bailey and center Marcus Martin, junior defensive lineman George Uko said on Twitter that he would forgo his senior season with the Trojans. Uko finished tied for second on the team with five sacks, and finished fifth with seven tackles for loss.
"Thank you for everything, Trojan family," Uko wrote in the Tweet shared by the Orange County Register, "but me and my family have decided its best for me to go[.] I have decided to enter the 2014 NFL Draft. " The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Uko split time between defensive end and defensive tackle in 2014 for first-year defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast. New Trojans coach Steve Sarkisian is replacing Pendergast with his coordinator at Washington, Justin Wilcox. - Jerry Hinnen, CBSSports.com

08/13/13 - OTHER USC PROSPECTS WORTH WATCHING: DT George Uko (6-3, 285, 5.02)*...Due to his quickness, Uko appeared to be one of the players most likely to benefit from the switch to the Tampa-2 scheme. Rather than line him exclusively at the three-technique position, however, the Trojans featured him at nose tackle in nine of his 13 starts (three came at DT, one at DE). Uko is expected to start at defensive end in 2013, which may not result in much better individual numbers for him (31 tackles, nine for loss, five sacks in 2012) but should help USC's run defense. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
