Draft Scout Caleb Schreibeis News
12/17/12 - 2012 BUCK BUCHANAN AWARD WINNER: Montana State defensive end Caleb Schreibeis capped his spectacular senior season in fitting fashion Monday, when The Sports Network named him the Buck Buchanan Award winner as the top defensive player in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. It hasn't really sunk in yet, the magnitude of it, but the Buchanan Award is a great honor, Schreibeis said. I'm proud and humbled. I'll always remember the friendships I made here at MSU, laughing and joking with Coach (Bo) Beck and the guys in the meeting room, lining up and working hard for the same goal next to those guys. Coach Beck has made this fun, and Coach Ash has been great. I'm proud that I played for Montana State.
Monday's honor gives Schreibeis a special place in Bobcat lore. He becomes the first recipient of a major national individual award in program history, and also gives the Big Sky Conference its fourth Buchanan winner in the last six years and its fifth in the last decade. I think this award is a fabulous testimony to Caleb's work ethic and his determination, said Montana State Head Coach Rob Ash. He came here as a walk-on and had to fight and scratch and claw for every bit of playing time he got, gradually earning scholarship money, winning a starting job, and becoming one of the best players in the country. This is a tremendous story.
The Billings West product's 2012 season was one of the finest in school history. Schreibeis (6-3, 252 lbs) helped lead the team to 11 wins as a co-captain, setting a school record by forcing eight fumbles. That total led the FCS, was the highest total in Division I, and was matched by only two players in NCAA football in 2012 (Chad McGraw of Colorado Mines and Ernest Wiggins of Division III Husson also each compiled eight). - Montana State football
12/07/12 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: Senior Caleb Schreibeis has spent his senior season wrecking opposing offenses. In 11 games, Schreibeis has forced a school-record eight fumbles, hurried the quarterback seven times, and registered 12.5 sacks and 15 tackles-for-loss. The former walk-on has registered at least a half-sack in each of his 2012 games. - Montana State football
12/01/12 - Montana State defensive end Caleb Schreibeis forced the last of three lost Stony Brook fumbles with 45 seconds to play to preserve at 16-10 second-round FCS playoff victory on Saturday night. The No. 3-seeded Bobcats (11-1) got a 69-yard touchdown pass from DeNarius McGhee to Tanner Bleskin in the first quarter and never trailed. McGhee finished 12 of 22 passing for 208 yards and ran for 73 yards.
Montana State plays Sam Houston State in next week's quarterfinals. The 11 wins are the most for the Bobcats since 1984. Miguel Maysonet ran 19 times for 83 yards and Marcus Coker had 56 yards on 12 carries for the Seawolves (10-3). Kyle Essington completed 10 of 19 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown to Kevin Norrell that cut Montana State's lead to 13-10 with 11:53 remaining. - AP Sports

The Buck Buchanan Award finalist was in on 10 stops that went for three yards or less. Both of his pass breakups came on third-down plays. Schreibeis led an MSU defense that held UM to 134 yards in the second half, including just 26 in the fourth quarter.
