Draft Scout News
08/30/16 - DE Bjoern Werner was released by the Jaguars in the team's cutdown to 75 players Tuesday.
Werner, a former first-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts, was signed by the Jaguars in May. The Colts released Werner two months earlier after three disappointing seasons.
Werner had just 6.5 sacks in 38 career games with Indianapolis. The player selected 24th overall in 2013 didn't record a single one in 10 games in 2015.
Werner played college football at Florida State.
08/26/16 - DE Bjoern Werner was signed on as a free agent with the hopes of revitalizing a disappointing career thus far. The former first-round pick of the Miami Dolphins has produced just 6 1/2 sacks in his three seasons with the Dolphins. The 25-year-old former Florida State standout has not had a good training camp for the Jaguars and will need two strong finishes against Cincinnati and Atlanta for any hope of making the final roster.
05/18/16 - LB Bjoern Werner, who was placed on waivers by the Jaguars March 8, was signed by the Jaguars to be a defensive end May 12.
03/08/16 - OLB Bjoern Werner was waived Tuesday by the Colts after three seasons with the team. Werner, the No. 24 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, fell short of expectations coming out of Florida State as a pass-rushing outside linebacker. In 38 career games with the Colts, he totaled just 6 1/2 sacks. Last season, Werner played in 10 games and finished with 11 tackles and one fumble recovery. He was inactive for six games in 2015. In three seasons with the Colts that included 38 games and 16 starts, Werner totaled 77 tackles, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Waiving the 25-year-old Werner saved the Colts $1.48 million in salary-cap space.
12/02/15 - OLB Bjoern Werner has been inactive for the last two games. The Colts' first-round draft pick in 2013 has not played well this season and has seen his playing time diminish. Coach Chuck Pagano was blunt when he explained that Werner has been inactive because other guys have played better.
