 Draft Scout Terron Armstead News
04/28/13 - A closer look at the Saints' picks: Round 3/75 -- Terron Armstead, T, 6-5, 304, Arkansas-Pine Bluff...Armstead was viewed as one of the biggest risers in the draft and the Saints agreed, getting him in the third round even though they had a second-round grade on him because of his size and athleticism. - The Sports Xchange
04/28/13 - The Saints, who were without picks in the second and seventh rounds when the draft began on Thursday night, put the choice they got from the Jets to good use just minutes after they made their third-round selection. They used their own third-round pick to select Arkansas-Pine Bluff tackle Terron Armstead, a steady riser on the draft charts, at No. 75 and got back into the third round to select Georgia defensive tackle John Jenkins just seven picks later.

The ability to beef up both lines came when they packaged the pick they got from the Jets (No. 106 overall) with their own fourth-rounder (No. 109) and sent them to the Miami Dolphins for the 82nd selection. "I'm excited about tonight," Payton said later. "We started the day with a list of seven or eight guys, and Armstead was at the top of the list. Then we were able to get ourselves a player (Jenkins) with presence and size. "We wanted to become bigger and we had that opportunity," Payton said of Jenkins, a 6-4, 359-pounder who'll get a chance to help shore up a defense that ranked last overall and was 31st against the run in 2012. - The Sports Xchange

04/25/13 - DANE BRUGLER'S FINAL 2013 DRAFT BOARD: 41. OT Terron Armstead, Arkansas-Pine Bluff (6-5, 306, 4SR)...An athletic mover, Armstead doesn't have ideal experience against top competition, but is fluid on the move and has NFL teams intrigued with his physical tools. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
04/21/13 - ROB RANG'S 2013 NFL DRAFT DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH: Terron Armstead, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 6-5, 306, 4.65 ... The dazzling straight-line speed Armstead demonstrated at the combine caught the public by surprise but not scouts who saw him dominate competition at the East-West Shrine Game and impress as a late injury replacement at the Senior Bowl, as well. Unlike many small school prospects who simply latch on with whatever program will give them an opportunity, Armstead was recruited by a number of big schools, opting to play with Golden Lions because they were the only team willing to let him compete in track, as well as football. Highly intelligent, a remarkable athlete and having demonstrated the ability to raise his level of play against elite competition, Armstead could earn a shockingly high draft selection.

Five Other Offensive Linemen to Consider ... 1. Braden Brown, BYU, 6-6, 310, 5.20 ... 2. Theo Goins, Central Florida, 6-5, 313, 5.36* ... 3. Luke Marquardt, Azusa-Pacific, 6-9, 315, 5.34 ... 4. Vinston Painter, Virginia Tech, 6-4, 306, 4.90 ...5. Matt Summers-Gavin, California, 6-4, 310, 5.49* - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

03/05/13 - 2013 Arkansas-Pine Bluff Pro Day: Terron Armstead‘s impressive run-up to the 2013 NFL Draft continued Monday at Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s pro day. New San Diego Chargers offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris put Armstead through a workout that went on for about an hour. Armstead - who was among the top performers at his position in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine - only participated in the position drills at the pro day. Armstead looked outstanding in the workouts, and now has some private workouts scheduled, including one with the Dallas Cowboys. Armstead has a very good chance of being one of the top 60 players selected in the draft. Representatives from 12 teams were at Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s pro day March 4. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com
