07/28/14 - WR Gerald Ford was waived by the Dolphins Monday (July 28).
06/11/14 - WR Gerald Ford was signed by the Dolphins Wednesday, June 11.
09/09/13 - After the first week of action, there was a big shakeup in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll as four ranked teams fell out of the poll, with two previous Top 10 teams falling more than 10 spots after upset losses. Valdosta State (Ga.) held onto the No. 1 spot with 29 first-place votes, followed by Minnesota State-Mankato at No. 2 with two first-place votes. Northwest Missouri State and West Texas A&M flip flop places, to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Colorado State-Pueblo jumped three spots to No. 5 this week.
Losses by Shippensburg (Pa.), New Haven (Conn.), Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) and Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) caused all four of those teams to drop out of the poll, which made room for North Alabama at No. 22, North Carolina-Pembroke and West Chester (Pa.) tied at No. 23 and Delta State (Miss.) coming in at No. 25. There is only one Top 25 matchup this week as No. 4 West Texas A&M plays No. 18 Chadron State (Neb.) on Thursday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. - American Football Coaches Association
11/23/12 - 2012 GULF SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: The GSC Offensive Player of the Year was awarded to a wide receiver for just the third time in history and the first time since 1975. Valdosta State’s Gerald Ford completed his impressive comeback campaign in grand fashion, becoming the first VSU winner since running back Aaron Jenkins in 2002. His victory snapped a nine-year quarterback streak. The junior follows North Alabama’s Roger Ralph (1975) and Troy State’s Perry Griggs (1974) as the only wide receivers to capture the accolade and he is also the Blazers’ sixth all-time winner.
The New Orleans, FL native enters the NCAA Playoffs No. 1 in the GSC in receiving (92.9), receptions (5.8) and touchdown catches (12). He was named GSC Player of the Week twice and set personal bests in single-game and single-season action this year. Ford returns to the individual honors list after notching the GSC Offensive Freshman of the Year award in 2009. - Gulf South Conference football
