09/11/12 - DE Lawrence Thomas is still listed as a defensive player, but against Central Michigan he made his debut as a fullback. The redshirt freshman was a five-star recruit but sat out last year with a shoulder injury, but the Spartans have been struggling to get him on the field. On Saturday he sprung Larry Caper for a 39-yard run, led the way on Nick Hill's 1-yard touchdown run and had a 7-yard catch that resulted in a first down. "I love it," Thomas said. "I did it in high school so it was nothing new to me. So we came out today and said go ahead and go for it. I was comfortable with doing it." Dantonio said Thomas will work on both sides of the ball in practice. - The Sports Xchange
