 Draft Scout *Teddy Bridgewater News
08/03/15 - QB Teddy Bridgewater joked on reporting day that the sweatshirt he was wearing "hides all my (new) muscles." But the second-year pro does look sturdier, although that's not saying much. "He was a little bit thin, I guess is the best way to say it," said head coach Mike Zimmer, referring to his then-208-pound QB. The Vikings told Bridgewater to hit the gym hard to pack on some muscle but not exceed 215 pounds. Bridgewater does what he's told and he came back somewhere in between, he said. "I was able to put on some weight. Most of it was muscle," he said. "I've been trying to make sure that I'm building myself up to withstand the hits I'm going to take all year and withstand the long season that's ahead." Bridgewater said the extra muscle also has helped his throwing. "It allows me to have more zip on the ball, but also that comes with technique," he said. "Sometimes I drop my elbow too low and the ball may sail on me. So some of it is muscle and strength. The other half is technique."
12/28/14 - QB Teddy Bridgewater finished 17-for-25 for 209 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception. The lone pick came on a pass that was dropped by WR Cordarrelle Patterson and caught in midair by Bears CB Kyle Fuller. Bridgewater finishes his rookie season with a 6-6 record, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions to go along with 2,919 passing yards.
12/21/14 - QB Teddy Bridgewater, who is in Miami, had an unhappy homecoming. Playing at Sun Life Stadium for the first time in his career, Bridgewater completed 19 out of 26 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Bridgewater is now 5-6 as a starter, but he has passed for more than 250 yards in each of his past three games.
12/15/14 - QB Teddy Bridgewater did a lot of promising things while operating a well-conceived game plan from offensive coordinator Norv Turner. With a heavy dose of five-wide, shotgun sets, Bridgewater was quick and decisive with slants and screens designed to assist a rag-tag offensive line sporting backups at three positions compete with Detroit's vicious defensive front. Bridgewater completed 31 of 41 passes for 315 yards and a touchdown to help the Vikings go on top 14-0 before the Lions notched a first down. But Bridgewater also experienced a typical rookie moment when he threw interceptions on back-to-back throws in the second quarter. That handed the Lions 10 points and let them back into the game.
12/14/14 - QB Teddy Bridgewater won't back down from a challenge. In the teams' first meeting, Bridgewater was sacked eight times and picked off three times as the Vikings lost 17-3 at home. He showed some moxie Sunday by completing 31 of 41 passes into the teeth of the Lions' vaunted pass rush, which dropped him four times. On one of Bridgewater's two interceptions, intended receiver Charles Johnson was tripped up. "He's pretty resilient in everything," Zimmer said of Bridgewater.
