 Draft Scout Ifo Ekpre-Olomu News
01/06/14 - Ekpre-Olomu will remain at Oregon for his senior season...Ekpre-Olomu will remain at Oregon for his senior season...Given Terrance Mitchell’s early departure, the Ducks were at risk of losing their entire starting secondary from 2013, as safeties Brian Jackson and Avery Patterson were seniors. Instead, Ekpre-Olomu will anchor the group, bringing a streak of 27 consecutive starts into the 2014 opener, Aug. 30 at home against South Dakota. "His return, along with Marcus and Hroniss, sets the foundation for the leadership of this team," UO coach Mark Helfrich said. "That's on top of his exceptional abilities on the field, and the fact he's a great teammate." Ekpre-Olomu will enter his senior season with 30 career pass breakups, eighth all-time at Oregon, in stats going back to 1971. His seven interceptions are five shy of placing Ekpre-Olomu in the Ducks’ career top 10. - Rob Moseley, GoDucks.com/Oregon football
01/06/14 - Ekpre-Olomu will remain at Oregon for his senior season...Two-time all-conference cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu will return to Oregon for his senior season, he said Monday, the first day of winter term at the university. Ekpre-Olomu joins quarterback Marcus Mariota and center Hroniss Grasu in passing up this year’s NFL draft to play another season with the Ducks. The team did lose running back De'Anthony Thomas and cornerback Terrance Mitchell as early entries this month.

Ekpre-Olomu, a native of Chino Hills, Calif., was Oregon’s second-leading tackler with 84 stops in 2013, and he added three interceptions to give him seven for his career. He earned first-team all-America status from ESPN and was a second-team all-America according to no less than four organizations, including the prestigious Walter Camp Football Foundation. “The two main factors related to my decision to return were my continued progression as a person and a player, and I felt Oregon was my best option to achieve those goals and improve my situation for next year,” Ekpre-Olomu said Monday. “I should be able to finish my degree by next fall, possibly by the end of the summer. Football is only one phase of who I am; my degree will be forever. Secondly was my ability to make an impact and become a top (draft) pick, and I felt staying one more year would only help me.” - Rob Moseley, GoDucks.com/Oregon football

12/13/13 - 2013 WALTER CAMP SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: DB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Oregon, 5-10 185, Jr., Chino Hills, CA...The Riverside, Calif., native's inclusion marks the fourth straight year an Oregon player has been chosen for the nation’s oldest and most prestigious All-America team, which is selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 125 Football Bowl Subdivision schools.

An all-conference first-team choice by the Pac-12 coaches the past two seasons, Ekpre-Olomu ranks second on the Ducks in tackles (78) and interceptions (3) heading into UO's Alamo Bowl appearance against Texas on Dec. 30 in San Antonio. He was previously named second-team All-America by USA Today. Ekpre-Olomu follows return specialist Cliff Harris (2010), and running backs LaMichael James (2010, '11) and Kenjon Barner (2012), as Oregon's most recent Walter Camp All-America recipients. - Oregon football

12/03/13 - There were several impact performers in the “Civil War” on Friday, including quarterback Marcus Mariota and wide receiver Josh Huff on the Oregon offense. But it's Ducks junior cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu who stood out the most for the entire 60 minutes, showing up time and time again when his team needed him. He finished with a team-best 12 tackles and four passes defended, adding an interception, his third of the season. Ekpre-Olomu has terrific hand-eye coordination, quick reflexes and explosive footwork to make plays against the pass and the run. If there is a better draft-eligible cornerback in the country, I have yet to see him. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
12/03/13 - 2013 ALL-PAC-12 FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Jr., Oregon (2)...Ekpre-Olomu ranks second on the team in tackles (78) and interceptions (3) after the junior cornerback posted 12 unassisted tackles and one interception in Saturday’s 36-35 win over Oregon State. - Oregon football
