Draft Scout Chris Greenwood News
10/17/13 - --CB Chris Greenwood was released. He signed with the team on Sept. 25. He did not play in a game.
09/25/13 - CB Chris Greenwood was signed off the Detroit Lions' practice squad to take defensive end Anthony Spencer's spot on the roster after he was placed on injured reserve. Greenwood was a fifth-round pick of the Lions in 2012 out of Albion College who the Cowboys also had an eye on in that draft. He sat out his rookie season on the PUP list with a torn abdominal muscle. Greenwood, 6-1, 193, had two tackles in preseason for the Lions and was signed to their practice squad. "He's a guy that we spent a lot of time with prior to the draft," coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday. "Had a workout with him at Albion. Brought him in for the '30' visit. Big, long, tall corner.
"We were looking for an opportunity to sign a big, young corner who we could develop and maybe have a role on our football team, and he fit the bill, so we went ahead and made that decision."
09/01/13 - Perhaps one of the toughest decisions the Lions had to make on Saturday was to cut cornerback Chris Greenwood. He has all the tools the Lions are looking for in a corner (6-1, sub-4.4 speed), but he played at Division II Albion and hasn't been able to stay healthy enough to develop. He spent last season on IR with an abdominal injury and sports hernia surgery. He missed time again this camp with a hamstring injury. The Lions hope he clears waivers and they can re-sign him to the practice squad.
09/01/13 - CB Chris Greenwood was waived by the Lions Saturday.
08/19/13 - CBs Jonte Green, Chris Greenwood and Ross Weaver continue to sit out with hamstring injuries. Green and Greenwood are expected to return to practice this week.
