11/13/16 - Armstrong guides No. 19 Nebraska past Minnesota...Tommy Armstrong engineered two long second-half scoring drives to lead 19th-ranked Nebraska to a 24-17 win over visiting Minnesota on Saturday night. Minnesota (7-3 overall, 4-3 in the Big Ten) threatened to tie the game late but Mitch Leidner's pass at the Nebraska 17 was intercepted by cornerback Keiron Williams with 2:58 remaining. Armstrong's playing status was uncertain for most of the week after being hospitalized at Ohio State because of a head injury. He started for Nebraska (8-2, 5-2) and was responsible for all three of his team's touchdowns. His 13-yard scoring run with 7:17 left in the fourth quarter helped the Cornhuskers take a 24-17 lead after Nebraska trailed 17-10 at halftime. Minnesota's four-game winning streak was snapped because Leidner (18 of 27 passing for 180 yards) could not execute against Nebraska's defense for most of the second half. After halftime, the Golden Gophers gained only 108 yards of total offense and entered the red zone only once (the drive that ended with the interception). - The Sports Xchange
11/07/16 - Nebraska coach Mike Riley says quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. is going through the concussion protocol and is listed day-to-day for this weekend's home game against Minnesota. Riley said Monday that he is encouraged because Armstrong has said he feels good. Armstrong's head hit the turf hard when he was tackled along the Ohio State sideline by safety Malik Hooker in the second quarter of Saturday night's 62-3 loss in Columbus, Ohio. Medics tended to Armstrong on the field for about 10 minutes before he was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. Armstrong returned to Ohio Stadium in the second half and was with his teammates on the sideline. Riley said Ryker Fyfe would start if Armstrong can't play. He would be backed up by Zack Darlington. - AP Sports
