Draft Scout Forrest Lamp News
08/02/17 - G Forrest Lamp sustained a torn ACL in his right knee in practice Wednesday. The second-round pick was injured while pulling on a running play during team drills. Lamp, 23, was carted off the field and is expected to miss the 2017 season. "He was playing so well," Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said after practice. "He was really coming along at that right guard position. He was playing really well, so it will definitely hurt this team."
08/01/17 - G Forrest Lamp, a second-round pick, is running with the first squad on occasion at right guard.
03/04/17 - 2017 NFL Combine, Day 3 Winners: Forrest Lamp: The big man out of Western Kentucky flashed his strength and nearly led all linemen in bench reps with 34. He also ran a 5-second flat 40, which is an impressive number. Again, itís a weak draft class and guards are more valued in the NFL than they have been in years past. Lamp is a guy who is going to get a look from teams who strike out in free agency while trying to chase either Kevin Zeitler or T.J. Lang. Thereís a dearth of protection for NFL clubs these days, and Lamp should cash in. Itís hard to imagine him falling out of the first round at this point. - Will Brinson, CBSSports.com
03/01/17 - 2017 NFL Combine, Wednesday takeaways: 4. Forrest Lamp took arm-growing pills over the last month...One of the top offensive line prospects in the 2017 class, Western Kentuckyís Forrest Lamp disappointed at the Senior Bowl when his arms measured 31 1/8-inch long, which all but guaranteed a move inside to guard or center. But during his weigh-in at the combine, Lamp measured 32 1/4 inches, more than a foot better than a month ago in Mobile. Lampís agent also weighed in on social media on Wednesday, tweeting that ďduring one of Forrest Lampís team meetings last night, they measured his arms again (as I have personally) and they were 32 1/2 inches.Ē Regardless, Lamp is ideally suited to move inside to guard at the NFL level, but the better arm length will give teams comfort that he can kick out to tackle in a pinch. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
03/01/17 - 2017 NFL Combine, Day 1 Winner: Forrest Lamp: There is a very weird obsession with the length of certain body parts in the NFL, and for teams interested in drafting offensive linemen, arm length is a big deal. You canít be holding off blockers with tiny little T-Rex arms. Lamp, a hot prospect at guard who is probably going to go in the first round, just made himself some real cash by somehow making his arms an inch longer between the Senior Bowl and the combine. Who knows how (Inspector Gadget therapy treatment?) or why the magical Lampís arm grew in the past few weeks, but itís irrelevant, because he is now over the magic number of 32. Heís going to get drafted early. - Will Brinson, CBSSports.com
